i have posted this before but once more i will try to get a fix,
the rangefinder on the Sherman is fubar,
first is a panzer

tiger
(http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg229/WWhiskey/sightpitcure4.png)
t-34/76
(http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg229/WWhiskey/sightpicture6.png)
and then the Sherman
(http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg229/WWhiskey/sightpicture5.png)
all of these are from the same spot to target,, target is the shrub, it is approximately
2.2 away from all the tanks except the Sherman, sure would like to see that fixed
it wont zoom in like the others, but if you measure everything it is all the same, just the range finder is wrong.
every other tanks shows the distance on the rangefinder to be the same even tho the range finder displays differently in my screen.
-
And you are sure you hit the home key to reset to your default seat view? If so, this is weird.
-
yea i have been doing this for a while, all tanks are zoomed in all the way each one of the tanks even shows the target at the proper range except the Sherman
i think i know whats wrong tho, when the Sherman came out if you zoomed everything all the way in it was prefect, but there was a glitch that blocked the view when not zoomed in, also you could see all around even when in the gun so they moved the eye back into the turret some but did not move the range finder back as well to correct the difference
i think the solution would be to move the range finder back , toward the turret till it reads right since you cant move the eye forward,
it also has nothing to do with the trajectory of the shell since all tanks that are shown have different trajectories, the range finders show more or less of themselves to make up for that, the distance is the same in every shot so the range finder should read the same in every shot even if the shell took more or less ark to reach its target.

Wow, this could explain why I royally suck in a sherman.
-
That's the reason I rarely drive the Firefly. It has a different sight picture than all the other tanks with non-default head position, which messes up my aim.

I find that when I use the m4 a lot then try and use a Tiger that my aim sucks, and vise versa.

Can do that in the M8, but you also have to raise your head position, and offset it to the left. Try it out.

This would explain so much...
-
I have not really noticed the range issue but I have noted you have to aim to the right to hit what you want...
-
I thought it was just like this because of the higher velocity gun... guess I was wrong.
-
If they changed the gun, the would change the sights ruler. Wouldn't make much sense to give an 88 the sights for a 50mm now would it?

Whiskey,
wouldnt this be better put in the Bugs forum,it might get more attention from the powers that be in there.
Just a thought!
:salute

you are probably right, but i think i have posted about this more than once in the bug forum to no avail, i could be wrong tho
-
No probs!
I still think putting something about this in "bugs" forum may be the best course.

Now where's skuzzy to save the day? :aok
-
really weird! I hardly ever drive the M-4(points), but when I do I make more 1 shot kills....maybe my brain is off center the same amount as the M-4 sight...? :aok :rofl
-
it would be nice if Skuzzy moved this to bugs i aint all that sure i can do it without starting over, but i bet he searches for his name every morning to see who has been talking about him!!! just a guess
-
Wouldn't be supprised. Skuzzy seems like the paranoied type :bolt:!!!
JK skuzzy, you're cool dispite the fact that you hate Rooks :neener:.

WW ... I just got done deleting all my settings for the M4 / M8 / Panzer / Tiger.
I then re-did all my views offline. I then spawned each vehicle on the base (each spawning in the exact same spot) and picked a spot (bush) to shoot at and get the range at which I hit it dead on. I then went to each of the vehicles, picked the same bush at the same distance marker and ALL of them hit it spot on ... so I am not sure there is anything wrong with the distance scaling of the M4.
-
sounds reasonable to me. :salute
-
What range was the bush at? I've noticed that the M4 seems to dead center or close to it upto around whatever the hell that 12 or 13 mark indicates. Past that, it starts to get off by more and more, and starts hitting to the right just a bit. When I'm fighting at stand off ranges (out past the 32 mark, I'm aiming left so its about a pointer (the little mouse thing) or two's width to the right of center.

yea you need to shot out at a pretty good range to check, all my shots would be out of view if you were not zoomed all the way in and f-8 to go down the scale

That sounds like the shell is just heavy then. If you use F8 then you aren't using the original distances, you are probably shooting about 5k.

no , that shot is about 3 k out,,, the weight of the shell would have nothing to do with the distance the rangefinder views, all the other tanks hit at the same rangefinder location, even tho the weight of there shells vary, as does there velocity. the range finder is not correct, drive out 3 k from the field in offline mode and fire back at the tanks on the field if you like, maybe then you will understand, or i can post some more pictures.
