Title: Vuzix VR920
Post by: AAJagerX on February 26, 2010, 04:27:47 PM
I'm (hesitantly) looking at a Vuzix VR920 goggle system to use with AH.  I read a few old forum topics about them, but have heard that there's been upgrades made.  Is anyone out there using the 290 now in AH?  If so, what are your impressions?  I'd appreciate any imput I can get.

On their website it said that it supported 1024x768.  Partly the reason for starting this post.  I just want to know if it works well enough to justify the purchase.

I have one but never used it much in AH. I was never happy with the resolution.

I found it difficult to read text and instruments.

I was not that impressed with the 3D and the head tracking didn't work as well as I hoped.

My plan was to mod it and mount it into a flip up visor arrangement and try it with track R  but haven't got around to it yet.

I haven't tried it with the new version of AH. I really need to dig it out and experiment with it some more.

Frankly, my advice would be to wait for better technology to come along, but that's just my opinion.

Vuzix is supposed to come out with the VR-1440, with higher resolution but who knows when that will be.

I use a Z800, which has a pair of 800x600 OLED panels, with a slightly wider FoV. And yes I love it :)

Thanks for the input.  I'm going to wait for a while, hopefully something decent will come along.

I'm waiting until something with a higher definition comes out, been waiting a while now.

If it has limited degree's of movement, will use in conjunction with track ir - wife says I already look like a lemon when I fly so no big difference there lol...

I love mine, so much so I'm looking at downgrading back to a 7 series video card so I can use stereo 3D.
