Looks like it could be a rough day in the Hawaiian islands. The tsunami forecasters are saying that this wave could wrap around all sides of the islands and create some problems so they are blasting a siren @ 6am simultaneously on all the islands. Also the news reports from Hawaii are telling people to get up to at least the 3rd floor of the buildings near the water.
Here is the latest warning from NOAA

Wow I hope it doesn't reach the pacific atolls ... Marshall Islands is merely a foot or two above water and there's almost 100k people there :(
-
WOW! Chile really got hit hard and noe Hawaii may get hit. Glad that we are on top of it before the tsunami.

The Japanese have stated that when it arrives on their shores it will be at most somewhere around 10 centimeters is what they are estimating. They think that it will dissipate quite a bit in the 22 hours it will take for the wave to reach their islands. I would think that by the time it gets to the Marshall Islands it will be in the similar size.

We're prepping here in Hawaii, though I will admit, most of us are pretty nonchalant about it. We're expecting the wave to hit me around 1135 local, and I will be reporting in to CAP Mission Control shortly after the wave. The worst part is just gonna be watching all of the really crappy dramatic news clips for months afterword "Hawaii, underwater!" etc. We get a mild earthquake a few years ago with almost zero damage and no deaths, and we spent 6 months watching "Hawaii: After the Quake!" on the news... Ugh...

How much you wanna bet some idiot is going to try to surf the thing.
"Ultimate waves DUDE!"

Just got back from Germany after a long flight and just heard the news. I'm supposed to be headed again to Chile this next Saturday.

I really hate how the News asks the most stupid questions that actually add no value to the story.
"Now we go to Jen in Santiago, Jen have you been feeling the after effects in Chile?"
"....*Silence*....."
"I was just told we lost Jen, but Jen has been telling us for the past few hours that she has been feeling lots of aftershocks..."
"Hi, Chris is this a devestating earthquake?"
"Actually Kristy not at all...over 200 people are dead, roads and bridges have collapsed across the country, medical teams are running low on supplies...nope Kristy we are having a Bar-B-Q as we speak...back to you..."
:furious

Tsunami is over. It didn't even really reach the shore.
-
Could you see it offshore? That woulda been pretty sweet.

There was no "wave" to see. The tide just went in and out really quickly.

This earthquake was just off the coast of Chile too. Imagine if the epicenter was at the center of that town. Let's hope there are not too many deaths. :pray

Amen to that!
