Hows this rig work in ah2? Looking into one of these in the near future. Possibly going to make to jump to pedals soon also. Thanks for the help guys. I'm currently using a Logitech 3d pro.
-
more like depends on how much you want to spend. x52 pro is about 100 bucks. I have one, really happy with it. lots of buttons to program just about everything. I dont use their software too many problems with it. takes a while to get used to it specially coming from the 3d pro. that was my prior stick. I liked the 3d pro better, but I like the fact that now I have a throttle with lots of pretty blue buttons :joystick:.

I'm lookin at the all black x52. Around 140-160 everywhere I look. Probably gunna cash in some Amazon.com gift cards. :)
-
X52 pro works great :aok never had problems with the SST software either, but its only necessary if you want to do more advanced programming of buttons, throttle etc. there are some useful things it can achieve.
-
Ive had 4-5 X52's over the last few years and everyone ive tried has a notchy elevator axis . I've had 3 go back to best buy and swapped for numerous reasons and haven't found one that is completely smooth . I am thinking about the PRO to see if it is any better. Right now the X52 stick sits on the desk and is used only for the paddle switches . I use the X52's throttle with a T1600 stick that is nice and smooth all the way around .
-
I have the x52 pro and use it with the saitek throttle quadrant. Very happy with it overall, dont use the SST programming software though. Occasionally I have pulled the plug out of the stick accidently (not good when flying a 262) that is the only weak part of it IMHO
-
BB does not carry the Pro for 1/2 off in the stores. They carry the X52 for $100 and the X52 Pro for $200. Also, since the PRO is "Available Online Only" you aren't going to find it at any Stores in anyone's Area.
Just putting correct info. out there, so no one is confused. Also, my CH Fighterstick has only been Calibrated twice. When I first installed it almost two years ago, then last October when I switched from XP (32 bit) to Vista (64 bit). In other words, it doesn't spike.
-
I had a Ch fighterstick that had a bad pot from the factory , even with the new pot it had a deadspot in the elevator. it would push forward fine but when pulling back it would jump at the beginning of its travel . The X52 and CH FS are the only ones ive ever had a problem with..... maybe it's just bad luck .
-
Well, I think ill save up for a few weeks and order myself the x52 pro. If I don't like it, ill return to my 3d pro and play around with the x52 on my backup rig. Hope it works out. Hoping to get my little basement simpit going with my three monitors and what not.
-
I just got the X-52 Pro today and so far its great. Theres almost TOO MANY BUTTONS :bolt:
The only problem i have is the button on the throttle that i want to program to WEP isnt working right. whenever i push it the light on the silver hat switch blinks. It was working earlier but now it dosnt. :headscratch:
-
Branch, you have to open up video game controllers/x-52 on your windows control panel. Then hit properties.
That will enable all the buttons in game, but you have to leave it open.
-
if i open the saitek control panel it works fine :headscratch:
-
Branch, you need to open it before going into game, leave it open on your desktop, enter game and all buttons will be available then.
Some of the buttons wont work if you close it (dunno why, just the way it is). I used the x52 before switching to the CH Fighter Stick. For the money, its a decent stick.

I really enjoy my X-52, the only stick I've never calibrated.

yup, I wrap a rubber band around the cord and then across the base to hold it in.

Ok now i have a problem. The drivers installed fine, but the software didnt work so i went to the website and downloaded the newer one. Now the Profile editor works but im still getting the "does not contain a profile for this device and the device has not been profiled" when i go to the control pannel is says the software is not present.
-
I have one of these on order. What's the concensus? Drivers or no drivers?
-
When I used mine, installed Drivers only, no SST software. Mapped it via AH only, so no need for the sst software for me. Drawback of not using that is you need to open the software to ensure all buttons are engaged ingame. Other than that, found it the easiest way to get up and running quickly.

Cool, thanks. Anyone wanna post their mappings? Tryin to get my brain pre-mapped :-)
-
The only mapping I would code is for squelching purposes. Don't really see the point considering AH can map the rest more easily than the SST programming software.
-
I'm mean, you know, which buttons you use for what?
-
Oh, I see.
Main trigger: main guns
Main trigger 2 (When you press the trigger down and get the second click): fire all guns
FIRE button: Fire cannons
Hat Switch: (obvious)
Pinkie Switch: Look Up
Button A: God's Eye, Move Forward (or can be used to trim down)
Button B: God's Eye, Move Backward (or can be used to trim up)
Switch T1: Control Mode 1
Switch T2: Control Mode 4
Switch T3: Control Mode 2
Switch T4: Flaps up (incrementally)
Switch T5: Control Mode 3
Switch T6: Flaps down (incrementally)
Button E: Eject
Slider (not throttle): RPM1
Works for me, obviously not complex.
-
Thanks much
-
In case you're finding it difficult to map these combinations, press the button you want to map when the "map controller" dialog is open. The button you pressed will be selected making key association rather simple.
-
on your throttle slider. I tried to set it to RPM but it works backwards. When i slide it down the RPM goes up.
-
Then open the, "Advanced" section and invert the axis.
-
thanks :aok
-
I use the SST software with mine.. can program all kinds of nifty things with it!
STICK:
Pinkie Trigger = Joystick 'shift' command
Main Trigger 1 = Fire MG (Primary)
Shift Main Trigger 1 = Fire Cannons/Bombs (Secondary)
Main Trigger 2 = Fire ALL
Shift Main Trigger 2 = Fire ALL
Left Fire Button = Channel VOX
Shift Left Fire Button = Show Channel (Pressing sends "/", releasing sends "Enter")
Right Button (Bottom) = Landing Gear
Shift Right Button (Bottom) = Dive Flaps
Right Button (Top) = WEP
Shift Right Button (Top) = Switch Secondary Weapon
Protected Button under flap = Bomb Bay Doors
Shift Protected Button under flap = Eject (Pressing sends "ENTER ENTER ENTER", releasing sends "O")
Bottom HAT = Views
Shift Bottom HAT = Views
Top HAT = Gun Positions (L=1, U=2, R=3, D=4)
Shift Top HAT = Plane Positions (L=1, U=2, R=3)
THROTTLE:
Scroll Wheel Button = Zoom
Shift Scroll Wheel Button = Map
Scroll Wheel = Zoom In/Out
Shift Scroll Wheel = Map Zoom In/Out
HAT:
Left = TrackIR On/Off
Down = Flaps Down
Right = TrackIR Recenter
Up = Flaps Up
Shift Left = High Vis
Shift Right = Ground Vis
Top Wheel = Not Used
Button in Top Wheel = Check 6
Shift Button in Top Wheel = Damage List
Bottom Wheel = RPM
Button Near Bottom Wheel = Range VOX
Shift Button Near Bottom Wheel = Icon Type Select
Slider = F1, F3, F5 view (Left33%=F1, Mid 34%=F3, Right 33%=F5)
Mouse (Mini) Stick = Trims (L,R=Rudder U,D=Elevator)
Shift+Mouse (Mini) Stick = AutoPilot (U=Auto Level, D=Auto Speed (Climb), R=Combat Trim)
Mouse Button = Set Trim
Shift+Mouse Button = View FPS/Video Info
I should add that my toggle switches on the bottom of the stick are assigned to less used things like... start engine, .speed commands, .salvo commands, bomb calibration commands and the such. I keep changing those around so it's hard to remember exactly what does what.
I should also add that most of the unshifted commands are programmed directly from within AH (Not programmed in SST), but since all of the shifted commands HAVE to be programmed from SST, they all send the keyboard equivalents to AH..
-
I must admit I'm in LUST with this new thing!
It was hard to get the trim knobs and throttle slider working, but once I got that going!
I landed 5 kills like 3rd sortie.
Now, who can tell me how to work the display on the throttle as radio?!
That's really about all I'm missing!
And if anyone needs help gettng the slider or throttle wheel-controls working let me know!
Oh yeah, if anyone knows how to gat the built-in mouse functional in-game that would be awesome!
-
You need to install the SST Programming software to get the mini-mouse working. Just one word of advice, don't expect it to substitute a real mouse. As for the MFD (throttle display), I don't believe you can set it up to tune frequencies (or display frequency information).
-
I know if you use the SST the mini mouse will work in game just not in flight
-
the MFD has a count-down timer on it so you can use it to tell when hangers are going to pop or when a town is gonna start popping again.
-
^ very handy :)
