So for example copper members with 2 stars could post 2 wishlist threads per month.
This lets us see more threads from older experienced hands.
Leaves us fewer threads by those new to the game to wade through.
After all, whats the point of putting in all the time if rank gains no privilege?
-
Sure, why not? Seems like a plan to me... Besides, I think I've probably been around long enough to post a couple a year myself... So, nothing much would change for me!
I say +1!

Who says "older experienced hands" have anything to contribute? Mostly I find they post rambling, pointless, and off-topic material; guess that is what happens when the mind goes but they still have access to the intardnet. :bolt:
With rank goes responsibility before privilege; or at least that was how it was taught to me.
BTW, on the OP's idea: No thank-you.
-
this would encourage posting just to increase post count
-
No, there are many many old wise sticks that do not post on the BBS very often and do not have a high post count.
Besides, just cause you post does not make you smarter or wiser...only reading and understanding can do that.

I'd like to think this old had has contributed quite a lot to the discussions actually. Seems like there are quite a few of us old hands who do that.

Interesting idea, however, I think it should be done based on how long you've been here, not by post count.
<----- Points to post count vs time here.
-
I dont hink there's a single plane, gv, sheep, goat or nuke that hasnt been requested, many, many, many times before. just because somebody score high, doesnt make him/her wiser :noid

its a WISHLIST for cryin out loud....
A) theres no such thing as too many or bad ideas...... just ones you may not like....... if a complete noob had a brilliant idea Im sure it would be considered...... whereas if someone "experienced" had a horrible idea Im sure it wouldnt be considered
B) you could be here 2 days and be a Platinum member...... so wtf does post count have to do with experience or knowledge......... just means you like to post a lot
C) wouldnt this thread meet the criteria for threads youre trying to eliminate?
-
Batch, yep, it was the 3 posts by W7LPNRICK that inspired it. So blame him if you must.

have to agree with ya beefcake <------------------------------- points to post vs time here allso ;)
why let the spam tards have all the fun, quality is much better then quantity :aok
-10 Ghosth,I cant believe you would even consider this
-
no.
-
I don't think this is a good idea. While a lot of chaff has to be sorted through, it is entirely possible for a new player to come up with a great idea, They should not be squelched.
-
There is no actual relationship between experience, good ideas, and BB rank. In fact people who spam the board with nonsense have much higher rankings than most people with experience and good ideas. :old:
-
Karnak, there is a difference between having a good idea, and posting it.
And having 3 - 5 lousy ideas, and posting them.
Ideally they'd still be able to post 1 or 2 a month.
And the ones we saw would be worth reading.
-
I also agree it should go by time registered on boards.
-
It should be based solely on kill to death ratio.
-
I reckon limit to 1 wishlist topic per week, for everyone. stops the noobs spamming and shouldnt effect the vets.

<note....need 4 stars minimum to respond>

If wishlist posts were tied to BBS rank...
I would post my 7 threads per month, just to show I can and Mr. Copper can not :neener:
-

Everyone that disagrees has less than 4 stars. :rofl
The unintended consequence would be the massive spamming of the other forums to get a post count high enough to post wishes here for the B-29. :devil
-
Time on this board doesn't make you more intelligent or your ideas and wishes any more valid than a new member's.
A lot of the spamming if not the majority of it is done by children in need of attention or seeking instant acceptance.
Why punish new members who may have solid ideas or contributions because of a few kids misbehaving?
Besides the name of this forum is the wish list.. Let em wish all they want.
-
Should be a ratio of time registered to post count.
If you have to high a post count to time here.... no post for you. :devil
-
Love the idea, by the time on the bbs method, but it would only mean they'd clutter up the General Forums with their wishes instead unless you applied the limit to the whole bbs. If you did that, then we'd see all their nonsense on channel 200 in the game.
So no unfortunately, keep the newbs posting in here instead of the other forums or in-game.

Inexperience often leads to early misunderstandings about the game, thus their good idea is likely to seem no more worth posting than their bad ideas and thus if they only get one or two posts they are likely to blow them on the bad ideas leaving the good one to rot.
Really, how hard is it to ignore B-29 or Do335 requests?
Everyone that disagrees has less than 4 stars. :rofl
I disagree and I have seven stars.

Bj229r was being funny. It wasn't a literal response :D

No problem Karnak, I'm just posting to get another star. :devil

Some Copper members have been here for quite some time :old: ;)

I hate to point out the obvious, but there might be an issue of quantity vs quality.

maybe we should have the make the person who created the thread the moderator and only allow him to show responses that he/she deems worthy for that specific thread. no wait.. that would be really dumb.

Yup... really stupid.
2weeker "Hey what do you guys think of the Bearcat being added?"
Player with some sense " Edited by 2weeker"
2weeker "It's in my big book of planes so i edited you post."
player 2 with some sense " edited by 2weeker"
2weeker "Look either agree with me or else."
See were this is going?

I have seen a similar wish before Ghost, and I still feel the same way as Karnak. Loosing the chance that someone has a unique or useful/helpful idea to shutup some posters that folks don't care for is not worth it.

Hello all, <S>!
In fact, this is a theme that interests me much. Having noticed a very deep loss of "wish quality" in the last year, I even suggested a "Wish Request Formula"... It was a failed attempt to produce a somewhat ironic remark... Failed to pass the message and I was quickly flamed... Lesson learned.
These forums are only as deep as deep are his players, gameplaywise. If they are not experienced and don't have a good historical and aeronautical background, their wishes will allways be superficial and flawed. Many are one line wishes, not even completely formulated. Others, simple Wikipedia copy-paste.
We must bare with this and try to be constructive. If there is something really flawed with these forums is accepting as registered members people that doesn't hold an active paying account.
IMHO, this is the major flaw and this should be corrected. Only active paying members should be able to post in all Topics and Areas. Former members should be able to post in some areas. Non active paying members - two weekers, professional trollers and other exotica - should not be allowed to post. Shadow accounts, if payed, would have to be tolerated. But ingame id and Forum id should be unique.
This would solve 50% of this forum problems. Also would reduce this forumīs activity by 50%. But I donīt see how would that harm anyone.
Cheers,
