Title: Merger
Post by: TUK on March 01, 2010, 11:52:21 AM
Hello Fso community...  I am pleased to announce the merger between WD40 and the Free Spirits.  Gr8pape and I made the deal last week, and we will be flying together this weekend..
The squad name will still be under WD40. We moved our numbers up to the (11-15) range.. With the addition to our new squaddies, we hope to make a bigger difference in our events..
I wanna thank the Freee Spirits for coming aboard. :salute Tuk151

You may need to clarify this. The side assignments have been made and your two squads are on opposite sides this tour.  :bolt:

Granted it's up to the CMs, but I'd think they'd require you guys to wait until next tour before it takes effect....

Yes, the squads need to fly separately for Frame 1. You can't make this decision public today, monday, 5 days before the first frame. You should have informed us and update your squads info on AHevents before the closing of registration (last Friday).

There is nothing I can do about this for frame 1. I will see if I can shuffle things since I have two squads that were in the process of going active on last friday. There might be some wiggle room here but I can't make any promises.

VMF-251 had the same issue come up on us Saturday. I'd set our squad for 4-6 for this month, and then Saturday we had an entire 7-man squadron migrating into Aces High from Warbirds enlist. Unfortunately it was too late for us to do anything about this tour by then, so we'll just be rotating guys in this month and up our committment for next tour.

No problem TUK. The side assignments are in a thread in this forum, and it shows you as Axis and the free spirits as Allied. See GDs post, it's the FSO teams' call.

Congrats on the Merge, but as GD said we needed some notice on this. Maybe he can work it out for frames 2 and 3.
Will be GD's call as to how he will handle it, but plan on your squads flying separate for this FSO.

Im reading the side assignments  in the ahevents . I dont see the frespirits as a squad.  If they were disbanded after the sides were set then I would agree. However, if they were disbanded b4 the squads were set, then we have an issue.
 :salute\\
Perhaps i should have told you guys earlier. I would hate for those boys to have to sit out a month.. I thought a week in advance on the forums would have been enough..
I'm pretty sure the co of free spirits disbanded during the off-week.

Forums and Ahevents page should not differ.... Should show the same side assignments... :salute
PS. On a fso off week, does the set-up divide squads the sunday b4 off-week, or the sunday after?

I did have Free Spirits active on Friday when I started dividing the squads. And they did send in a request to fly allies.

As of Mid day yesterday they were still listed as an active squad.

Right now I see only 2 options for Frame 1.

1) They sit out the entire frame and I will inform the allied CiC he has one less squad.

2) I have Daddog reactivate them and they fly frame 1 as Allies. If this option is selected they better make their commitment level numbers for that frame.

Your side assignment were posted on the forums yesterday. How did you put the free spirits on allies if they disbanded last week? I have the co of free spirits under my e-mail list as of last week.

I received a side request from Free Spirits on Weds for allies.

On Friday when registration closed and when I went to check the active list they were still listed as active on AHevents.org.

Yesterday when I set the sides via the admin on AHevents.org they were still listed as active early evening.

I never received a communication via email, forum post, or other method on this subject until today.

I did check the AHevents site when I saw this thread and they are now listed as inactive.

The two options still stand though. Since WD40 commitment numbers was locked in place on Friday night at 11-15. If this number already included your squaddies and Free Spirit pilots then that is fine. Although I have to say that some more timely warning from Free Spirits would have been greatly appreciated.

However, if your merger means you need to update your commitment level numbers to 16-21 then we have an issue and the options are:

1) WD40 flies with 11-15 for frame 1 and Free Spirits fly allies as 4-6 frame 1.

2) WD40 waits until frame 2 to see if I can work things in for you to fly as a 16-21 squad since I need to work in two other squads.

Which friday are you talking about. 2-26-10 or  2-19-10 is the ?

2-26-10.

Both you and they put in side requests on 2-24-10. They put theirs in during the morning. You put yours in later that day.

Does the WD40 commitment level of 11-15 cover both your pilots and the Free Spirit pilots joining your squad?

yes we upped our number to include the free spirits. (7-10 to 11-15) I noticed that gr8pape was listed as wd40 contact sent out the 24th. thought it was...  squared around and good to go.. guess there was a mix up in the command channels with wd40/free spirit. as you have info of them requesting rides on the allies side

Okay so WD40 11-15 commitment range covers both of your squads.

You guys are good to go for frame 1.

I will have to make some adjustments for the allies to cover the drop in numbers (another squad besides the Free Spirits has inactivated itself).

What's the numbers discrepancy? VMF-251 added 7 pilots on Saturday and I was going to wait until next month to bring it up unless changing us now will fix it for you.

Let me discuss with Daddog.

Basically I have had two allied squads (4-6 squads) go inactive on me. If you are saying you have 7 more pilots that is one way to cover the discrepancy. Will get back to you.

Wow what happened? Someone got mixed up, or something because I changed our active status to inactive either Weds. or Thurs.of last week and disbanded the squad on Friday because there was an event going on when I got there to disband the squad. Which was the Combat Challenge event. I know you have it all worked out now, just to clarify things.

Good luck with your endeavor, I'm sure that any squad plans involving Tuk will be a success, he is  a fine pilot and an honorable gentleman.
