... not to be mistaken for an ankle humping, who's butt do I want to kiss thread.
One of the most interesting parts of AH is the level of player involvement in almost every aspect of the game. From maps, to skins, terrains, to special events and the guys who develop, support and host them. To soundpacks, trainers, and record/stat/chart keepers...volunteers all, and the list goes on. Often these folks catch more grief, than appreciation from the masses in repayment of their efforts yet they continue to stay involved, ever contributing to the evolution of our game.
There are too many of these folks to even list without overlooking some deserving souls, but many of us I am certain have crossed paths with some one in particular who added something to your game experience here, in a way or ways unlike or eclipsing that of others. Maybe that guy who took you under his wing in the training arena and willingly answered all those seemingly stupid new player questions, quick to give you tips about things to aide you in coming up to speed. Perhaps that guy who took time out of his/her game day(s) to show you the ropes in your ride of choice, not for self elevation, but out of a sincere desire to help you out, and common love of flying the aircraft.
I thank all these folks in the community, and the game would be much less without you all, but keeping with the spirit of this thread, I would like to shout out to a man who I appreciate very much.
Fencer.
A complex individual to say the least. He can be an unholy bastige at times, I'll tell ya. We don't always see eye to eye, in everything from scenario designs and rules, to air combat kommand decisions, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I like complexity of character. His skins are fantastic. When I formed the 11th, we had one single skin for the group. Now there are near twenty, with every type that the 11th flew during the war, represented here in game. Due mostly to the efforts of Fencer.
He does his homework. I like that. His scenario designs, including the present "Final Battle" design, are top notch and I believe the best that we presently get. He has reached the pinnacle of design, finding that elusive but critical mix of parody, history, playability, and entertainment value. Hours and hours go into the research, design, and implementation of these events, and they offer unparalleled levels of immersion and enjoyment for those fortunate enough to participate. He has gone out of his way in the back ground leg work for his scenario's including units that are represented here as AH squadrons, even skinning the rides to match. Those details and efforts are not lost on me for one, being the type who plays this game for the opportunity to time travel back 70 years and play fighter pilot.
I could go on and on but am sure I am rambling as is. If you see him in skies around ya, give him a big WTG. The community benefits huge from his selfless efforts.
Have a  on me Ken!
EDIT: cold frozen morning fingers...

Fencer goes way back to the beginnings of online flight sims. His old squad is one of the squads listed in the video of the 1992 AW convention that I linked to in the Muskie's 20th anniversary thread. The two things that keep us all here are the quality of the work HTC does and the quality of the community. I usually use Fencer's Double Trouble skin when I fly the P-51 and his contributions to scenarios are part of the reason I enjoy flying them.

Without a doubt his work has brought enjoyment to 1000s of people from all over the globe. I think that's pretty cool  Thankyou Fencer :salute

I appreciate HTC for designing the game so that members can enhance it with skins, maps, special events, etc., etc. :salute
I appreciate the volunteers that create said skins, maps, special events, etc., etc. :D
I'm all about giving back to the community which gives so much to me, but I don't know a dang thing about anything. So, I give back by trying to set a good example of arena conduct to n00bs, answering some of their questions if I can, and giving them a chance to fly around in an engagement for a while before I kill them. :devil
