At first, I thought the game was about to disconnect. Then, I tried a bunch of settings as suggested. Later, I just left the plane set to autolaunch and in about 30 seconds, :bolt: boom I was in the air. Flew and engaged in all other maneuvers with no problems.
Great! Except when I tried to land..... as soon as the wheels touched the ground..... FPS 0, and a still frame. I asked around and either no one else experienced the same or, they figured the game wouldn't work for them and they just left.
To further make me say, "hmmmm...." I went to AvA and found the WW I planes there. So, I launched it from the airfield and the problem did not occur. Is there something possibly in the ground texture, that is snagging my vid card?

Found one other guy with the same problem.
LOVE WWI planes great job htc but on MAJOR problem for me
on landing and take off frame rate hit 0
-
My frame rate is far lower with the wheels on the ground than in the air, but it isn't zero.

Also saw complaints about this in the arenas. I know some folks aren't having any issues, but I click fly, vox loops, vid info shows 0fps, then suddenly I'm wheels up and it's fine.

At the start of every sortie, the vid info display shows 8-10 textures loading- sometimes taking longer than the take off run before dropping back to 0 - then the game starts running smoothly again. Periodically if I go to the hangar immediately after a sortie, the plane will be white- no textures.

I have similar issues with 0 or 1 FPS in all WW1 planes except the Dr.VII. I can fly that from spawn to landing AOK. All others I cant get off the ground.
WW1 crates enabled in the TA and the issue does not arise there.
Also noticed when I tried to start our squad there, I could only invite 5 people.

I don't know if this is where the comp is cacheing the info but I'm sure it might be something like that...
Do I remember that when you start a new arena or terrain the computer is storing memory of the new planes, gear and terraib???
-
My frame rate is far lower with the wheels on the ground than in the air, but it isn't zero.
Same here, only it happens just at take off, I landed (or was forced to! :D) many times and I didn't notice any drop in FPS
-
This didn't make sense, but I went offline and it tested the same for me. I loose about 1/3rd of my frame rate, 28 as I cross the threshold over the a/f and 19 as soon as my wheels touch down. On take off, it recovers more slowly.
-
same here. At first I started with a Fokker D.VII .... everything was fine.
The second start was with an Fokker Dr.1 about 30 min after the first start with the D.VII. Frame rate 0, throttle up, I waited couple seconds, suddenly up in the air and frame rate went back to normal. Landing I donīt know...always got shot down.

Maybe it's the new airfield, even if it's a bit strange: I landed there (just once, I have to say) but everything looked smooth, I didn't notice a drop in FPS (screen info was off, though, it's just a sensation), so it would appear it happens only at take off, not at landing, at least on my machine. I thought it could be the heavy traffic there was in Arena yesterday, but what you said, Easyscore, ruled this out.
Anyway, as always, I was recording, I don't know if this can help HTC staff, but my .ahf is available if the gents need it.
-
It isn't the plane, well not entirely. Offline in an A-20, you see similar hits, but without the stress of 40+ other players around.
-
Since there are 3 or 4 of these threads, I'll just post it here. Patch 1 fixed the issue completely for me. :aok

for me as well :aok
-
Fixed on my system as well, as usual, prompt quality service from HiTech Creations. :salute
-
Fixed and running smooth for me also.
-
Issue fixed and maybe I got an even more better result: now my pc runs detailed terrain smoothly, in the 40/50 fps range... is it possible that this last patch made the miracle, or did I just give up too soon, some months ago? :)
Oh, btw, thanks, HTC!
