Kudos to HTC for updating the Mossie. :aok
So there I was in LW Blue, in my Mossi w the 4/500lb bombs and the %50 fuel cruising along at 8500 ft en-route to finish off an enemy town when I just happened to notice my speed was above the typical 374mph. I was moving at 386mph!!! I had been level flight for almost a full sector (25 miles) and I not had any loss in altitude to gain any more E to help increase my speed. After my attack run, I climbed back up minus the 4/500lb bombs, but still had 300 rounds of 20mm left (similar ratio of 30 cal ammo, too). Once to 8500ft, once again I leveled off and watched the Mossi climb to 397mph, with 18 minutes of fuel left.
My hunch was correct: HTC updated the Mossi!!! THANKS!!!
:salute

Awesome!! I'm seriously going to begin flying that plane now :aok
-
hurray!
-
GV'ers screwed now. A plane with 4 bombs that can kill a tank (without near direct hits), 4 hizookas, and that fast!?!?! :bolt:
-
So far, I've topped out at 406 mph at 14,800ft. This is WITH both my internal 500lb bombs, I lifted with nothing on the wings. I took off with %75 fuel. Aircraft weight was appx 19,900lbs once I reached 406mph. FINALLY! We Few Mossi pilots will be able to leave behind those pesky fighters! ;)
Im waiting for the speed charts to be updated. :)
My squaddies' are saying I'm like a kid opening presents on Xmas morning. :D

The Mosquito is not fixed. Having tested it, and the Spitfire Mk VIII, there is either a global bug causing all aircraft to be faster than they should be or a global bug causing air speed to be reported as higher than it is.
I reached 367mph on WEP at 200ft in the Mosquito, up from 338mph in 2.17. I reached 362mph at 200ft in the Spitfire Mk VIII before auguring it intentionally. It also had a top speed at that altitude of 338mph in 2.17.

U just pissed in my Cherrios. ;) Off to do more testing.

Fw 190 A-8 with full load does 390 mph WEP on the deck.
?

OK... that is not right. Time will tell what the bug is. :frown:
Yeap. I just did 395mph in a Spitfire 16 at 200ft w WEP on. :O

Wow. Based on that the F4U-4 and P-51D will probably be exceeding the sound barrier at critical altitude now....

oh bugger... :(

well... not quite. The P51D only does 445+mph at 20k w %50 fuel and WEP (tested in TA from the 20k base).
-
Try 25k, your right in the P-51D superchargers deadzone for the D at 20k, critical altitudes are 12.5k and 25k....
Can you try the P-51B at 17k too?

Not much to say to this thread but this: :huh . I would like to think that if HTC were going to update the Mossie, it would come with a graphical update as well.
-
if it isn't mentioned on the release notes then i don't believe you.

I had always given HTC the benefit of the doubt that they wouldnt change something without listing it in the change log. But this caught me off guard for sure.
Ah well... sorry for the false alarm folks! Us Mossi worshipers will just have to wait for our beloved aircraft to get updated to it more proper flying attributes, hopefully sooner than later. ;)

2.18 patch 2 notes:
Fixed an issue that caused WW2 planes to fly too fast.

You can't fix ugly. :)

How dare you Kermit! Burn him. Buuuuurn him say I!

Thanks for clarifying---people were going on and on about how Mossie had been fixed and F4u-1A dialed back and I kept wondering why these weren't listed as changes---seemed odd.
