Can anything in AH beat it below 8,000ft? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes, the Tempest. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

It will certainly be one of the best low alt E fighters, but it will certainly get beat (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
But it isn't gonna be as popular as say the -1C or the N1K2, IMO.
With only average to poor visibility out of that cockpit, plus low ammo loadout coupled with very average 20mm cannons so that its not gonna be a spray and pray aircraft, and only very average turning ability I don't think this plane will appeal to the masses after the newness of its introduction wears off. And lets not forget no bombs, rockets, drop tanks, and a very small fuel load.
Plus the Typhoon is just as fast, and I would suspect that P51's, P47's, and F4U's will all be able to catch it if they come in with a little alt, and Boom&Zoom it.
Not a super fighter by far, but flown correctly with a good pilot it will certainly be a killer. I suspect it will prompt responses of "What the ****!!", similar to how the current Yak does. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

F4u4 just as fast at sea level and with an awesome high speed turn it will have no trouble with the La7.
If you are talking about low speed turning, then there's plenty of aircraft that can beat it. I suspect you want to keep it's speed up, so the best thing you can do is use it as a B&Z but dont get caught under a P51d or other high speed planes.

Er, F4U-4 ain't in the game, and hasn't been announced yet. I don't think that it really counts for this question.

I wouldn't call the La-7 a superplane. Its just an slightly improved La5FN.
The engine is the same, just the airframe a bit more areodynamicly refined and is built with some more metal replacing some wood parts.

It's ~25 mph faster than the La-5FN. If you compare with the current planeset, the only planes that can come close to the speed of the La-7 at low levels are the Typhoon, Me 109G-10, and the P-51D. The La-7 will out turn all 3 of them and out climb all but the G-10.
It's a sick plane. People keep asking for the Bearcat. This plane was just as good at low altitudes.

You people! It's all Soviet propaganda!!

Any plane with a sufficient alt disadvantage can be caught by my 190.
ANY.
