Title: WW1 war strategies
Post by: Clone155 on March 13, 2010, 07:34:31 PM
It seems most people do not want a way to stop aircraft from being able to fly. I agree, but I do not agree that it should be just a furball arena, I feel that would leave it vacant after the newness wears off. What we need is to have a way to win the war, but have it not affect the furballs, or fields, or hangers.

We have no-mans land, so why don't we set up a rail road heading to the trenches for each side, and the rail road would bring in troops. Troops will eventually die, but the rail road brings more in, so destroy a train, and then the trenches would not get any reinforcements, and would lose numbers. Lets say each team gets 200 men on each side. The train would carry lets say 10 troops. If you destroy the train then the trenches do not get the 10 troops, and bring the number down to 190. The train won't be easy to kill however, taking multiple strafes at each cab. All cabs must be destroyed to take affect, or else the trench will still get its 10 troops. If your numbers get too low you can volunteer to do a convoy run yourself, and drive a truck with 10 troops in and add it to your total trench number.

When two countries reach 0 for the trenches, then the third country wins. This will not affect the furball very much because it has nothing to do with the airfields, or the fight itself. When the war is over, the map is reset and the furball begins again, no harm done.

So that is my dream, what do you guys think?

Right now its being used as a test bed for the damage model as well as WW1. Give it time. Let it flow. Just enjoy what we got before someone ruins it.

This doesn't have to happen right now, this is just an idea for the future.

You're going to find that there's a segment of the community who is so threatened by the very notion of there being more added to WWI than furballing that any mention of it is instantly greeted with terrified screeching, howling, and the flinging of pooh with absolutely no consideration for the interests of other players or engaging in any sort of meaningful discussion on how everyone can be satisfied with the new arenas. This part of the community has come to the conclusion that WWI is THEIR territory, and are determined to defend it to the ear-piercing utmost.

This same behavior has also been witnessed in threads (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,285104.0.html) suggesting such an expansion SOLELY for use in Special Events, Scenarios and FSO where it would have NO FRELLING EFFECT WHATSOEVER on their ability to spin around in tiny circles for hours on end to no other purpose.

People, please remember, once upon a time Aces High Main arena was just like the WWI arena.

Few fields, close together, very limited planeset, uncapturable fields, no bombs or ord available.

And in 9 short years it has grown into the monster that it is today.

Many of us looked fondly back at those early years in AH.
And are very concerned about changes that will lead the WWI arena down the same path.

That doesn't make us monkeys sir, and for suggesting that we are look in the mirror and see who the real ape is.

But the point is we already have a war win arena, no need for another, especially when the tools for that ware really do not fit the bill.
