Werner Voss, Jasta 10, September 1917.
If you don't know who this guy is, you really need to read up on one of the best fighter pilots of all time.
I have a "Greyer" version of this as well.. but this seems to fit the descriptions I have best. The yellow nose is controversial. Some think yellow some think olive. Its about 50-50 and there is evidently evidence both ways.
Not sure I am finished with the weathering. There is a bug where "red" shows up on the wing supports at some angles externally.

Shot below was before final weathering..

Voss truly was one of the greatest ever. His last battle is the stuff of legends.

Finn,
The yellow chromate shows up on film as "dark". Hence the long argument by historians. Looks like the reference I had for the eyes was a tad low on the holes, I will move them up. The brows look different as well...
Also the amount of "lubricant" thrown by the engine stained the front of the fusalage, I am still playing with how to show that.
Also, most of those pics are out of Norman Franks books, but are larger than I had, thanks for the link!

very nice! I can't wait to dogfight with the plane of a legend! :aok
-
Man you guys are very ambitious.
Fencer I noticed on some of the pics in that link show a satin gloss look to the paint in some areas...is that the effect of engine oil or the paint?

Fence,
There is one pic on that page that looks like it could be yellow maybe it was painted at a later date.

Some say the tail was yellow. The mustache is a little thicker as well and no curve in the bottom portion of the eye.
Also, the Pic I referenced is from one of Alex Imeri's books "Fokker Fighters:Vintage Warbirds No.6", your welcome anytime I can help.

Looks great, probably my favorite WW1 skin of all time. I kind of like the greyer one, with olive nose, but thats just my preference. :aok
-
Updated face art and I changed the cowling to olive, I think I like it better. Opinions?

I think it looks much better!

Love the Olive. Great Skin Fencer :rock

I think the pilot is still an ugly bugger....
Oh the face on the cowl.... Looks great. I'm not sure if which I like more the yellow, or the olive.
Either way it's a great skin.

The eybrows are tipped up more or slanted and closer together .....makes it look mean or angry :aok

I really like the olive and I'm sure you will get the staining correct.
Baumer has posted a piece of fabric that is interesting as your 2 plane are fairly close in number/factory paint.
It looks nice Fence.
