Is it my imagination or is it a little too easy to get shot down from the defensive "non forward" firing guns of the B25H??????
I came screaming by one this morning at 500+MPH and hitting him hard w/my 6 .50's and he hit me with a 1-2 second burst. My F4U lost a wing, got a fuel leak, and an engine oil hit..........I was at a 45degree AOT and level. In order for me to do that much damage I have to hit a single engine plane w/ ALL SIX .50's for a second or two at least........
Is it possible for a single person piloting a B25 to shoot both the top turret and rear mounted guns at the same time? I can't figure out how I could take so much damage so fast from 2 .50's........

Problem #1. Don't come in level. Make your attack from above, or come up from underneath if you have the speed.

Bomber gunners have two means of firing: Secondary fire opens up with just the gun he's in. He can also cut loose with every gun on the bomber that can fire where he's aiming.

You're going to have to learn to start filming your attacks in order to figure it
out.

press N in bomber gun position and it fires all the guns that can range the attacker

That was your first mistake. You gave the gunner a perfect target to shoot at, couldn't ask for a better target for the gunner.
ack-ack

thats nothing - I lost my D25's engine, a wingtip and a several pints of blood to a Boston's dorsal guns yesterday in a single 500mph pass.
yes, a Boston. :uhoh

B-25 defensive guns are fail.
B-25 offensive guns are win.

Be happy he didn't HO you :)

Let's see -- you are screaming in at a very high closing speed, and he shoots the front of your plane, and you are surprised at the amount of damage your plane takes?
You essentially received damage equivalent to a HO attack. Your return fire was much less effective, given that your shots reached him with much less velocity on the non-critical rear of his aircraft, which also happens to be larger and more sturdy than yours.
So if you think about it, the result isn't surprising at all.

To add to this, you're flying into his bullets while he's flying away from yours. So his rounds rounds will have more energy on impact while yours will have less.
And yes, even 2x50 Cal's can do some serious damage.

I did not know about the N feature. Thank you for that information.
In my pass I started out at 90degrees deflection but when I got in gun range I was 45 degrees and then "yawed" my shots as I passed his tail. I was hitting him the entire time. Not knowing about the N feature and thinking he'd have to switch from waist guns to tail guns and not have enough time to do it is the result of my surprise.......I thought he would not have enough time to track me and thus not be able to aim well as I went really fast through the degrees of AOT..........
I had watched it on film.......O well the killed pilot learns best.
Thanks again!

Don't come in level, no matter what your deflection is.

That would be a failure on your squadron Training Officer who did not give you the particular handout pertaining to defensive operations of bomber aircraft and formations with in the cartoon game that we participate in...now I wonder who that would be???? It ain't me thats for sure.

LOL
Yeah they should throw that guy in the brig.........

he had to be in a dive to go 500mph!!!
-
Crashing yourself into a round with 2800 ft/s muzzle-velocity at 500mph+ is supposed to hurt.

Setting the trigger default to "Global" fire all guns- will allow all guns able, and in FOV, to fire while on target. If you don't want this set as default, as in PT boat? do you want all guns firing? If not, then press N, when you do. :salute

The defensive .50 is way too easy to hit with compared with RL.
Ive seen one gunner in a B17 kill or smoked engines on 4*190a8 @ 800-600 yards before they even started to shoot themselves.
they did approach from behind but some attackers where 5-7clock high .
I guess they made it as a game issue.
