Just sent out this e-mail to all FSO squads.
Gents,
Please forward this to your squads. We need as many as possible to show up for this SEA I test Thursday night at 9 PM Eastern.
68Falcon will run it. He will have some fields open. P-51's on one side and the Fw-190D on the other. We hope to have most of the FSO players and as many other MA players as possible show up.
With some luck the arena will crash. If it does, HTC wants us to lock it and then they can isolate the bug they are currently dealing with. If it does crash (that would be a good thing) don't bother to come back in. We will be locking it for HTC and they will take it from there.

- Pick a side and be ready to launch
We appreciate all the help we can get.

It is our hope that we will have numbers close to a regular FSO night. Please share it with your squad and get as many as possible to attend.

pass the message to my squad. :salute
-
I will be there if I can, my schedule is real bad now tho.
-
That is fine. Just encourage your squadies to try to make it. :)
-
I posted this in the AK forum. Unfornutately, Thursday night in my bowling league so I'll be not there.
-
I would suggest making announcements in the MA's and WW1 arenas 15 minutes ahead of the test. Appeal to everyone playing to help test, and maybe pinpoint, a major bug.
-
WD40's Co's will attend, along with 3-5 of our faithfuls.. :salute
-
We will PFactor. Hopefully that will pull in a lot more players.
-
Sent along to squad 367th will be there to help

It might be a good idea to have everyone in the tower like during an FSO and everyone jump OTR the same time. During the FSO there wasn't a problem until people went OTR.
If people file in steadily it might not crash it but the sudden flood of people might make a difference.
-
Exactly what we had in mind. Open fields and launch all at once. The major factor is to get as many players in the arena as possible.
Please let everyone know that if it crashes do not reenter the arena. It will be locked as soon as humanly possible but some one may slip in.
-
Would it also help to launch LOTS of buffs with drones as well.. Would that push the envelope harder? Just thinking.. :salute

message has been passed on to the Damned Mail List, daddog.....
( well posted an email with this title and linked thread to it :aok

I am thinking of having formations enabled
Allied would have a base for P51D and another for B25
Axis a base with BF109 and another for JU87
when every one is ready open fields and see what happens
-
Rgr Falcon.
Excellent ideas guys. :aok
Thanks TC.

Heck try having everybody spawn in bombers with formations on. That should put an additional load on the host.

Heck, why not just enable B17 formations for both sides and if the server doesn't crash we can have Death Star Wars!

Personally, I think it should be tested with the exact setup we had for FSO last friday when it crashed. We know it crashed with that setup and should be redone that way. If you set the arena up with another setup and it doesn't crash, it proves nothing except that it doesn't crash with that setup. Again, I suggest using the exact setup for frame 2 and see if it repeats as a crash.
BTW, will try to get the AK's there to help.
-
I agree. However, one of the key things is that we were told the risk goes up with the amount of players in arena. So basically we need to get around 450+ in the arena and spawning at one time to match last Friday's setup. Not sure if we will get that or not.
So probably best things is to go with the setup of last friday. Then if it all goes well with the numbers we have then try to put more stress on the host code by having everybody spawn as bombers with formations. The whole aim here is to induce a crash so that the debugger code that HTC put in place can catch the issue and record it so that they then can diagnose / fix it.
-
Not sure what setup 68Falcon will have, but you guys go with it. Yes it would be best to have the 'exact' setup we had last Friday during the crash, but that will be next to impossible to do as it is not on a Friday night. Most players set aside their Friday night for FSO, but many can't make it on a Thursday. I doubt I will be able to attend due to my kids sports. We need players, lots of players. Formations is a great idea. We want to load it up as much as possible.
If after everyone launches and nothing happens maybe 68Falcon will opt for everyone upping in B-17's as someone suggested.
Bottom line is just go with the flow. Watch the text buffer for CM messages and do what is asked. If things go our way it will crash. :)
Crossing my fingers.

Your not gonna get the numbers for friday on today. I expect half of the normal fso crew..

It was a great time B17's with formations playing as fighters. I think there were over 300 sharing the same airspace the same time.
