Post by: DEEC0NX on March 18, 2010, 06:22:52 PM: So, the other day I was googling around, and found the guy who flew the number 3 plane in VF-17 during WW2, Lt. JG Jim "Big Jim" Streig.

I thought possibly changing my name to something like BigJim3 would pay a sort of homage to him. Wulf has left the building, BigJim3 has arrived :aok

BTW- nice handle. I've always found that handles that are either given or used as an homage are the best ones to use.

I think it's a great handle.

These guys argued for forty years about who shot down Yamamoto's plane.

True one of the other BigJims used to be in VF-17 he's now a member of 801 Fleet Air Arm. I don't believe he came by his name the same way BigJim3 did. We in VF-17 are glad to have somebody come in and show this much enthusiasm and interest for the real Jolly Rogers of WWII. I don't understand why you hope to be wrong for his sake. I know of other Shifty's I believe there's a Shifty67 and a Shifty25 besides myself. My sake is just fine, theirs too I believe.

40 years - that's nothing heheh - they're still argueing over who killed Manfred "the Red Baron" von Richthofen - 90 + years later :lol

Just to clear up the BigJim...formerly with VF-17...when I was the CO he already had that handle. Didn't ask why or how he came about it.

That's good to hear it was sad to see you getting dramatic and hoping you were wrong over similar names.
