Want the pak-40, would be simple to do (take the panzer's gun mounted on a carrage, and you have a Pak-40. The Kwk 40 is just a tank mounted version of the Pak-40)
Have them be able to be hitched to the M3 and the German halftrack (never bothered memorizing its designation since I never use it, and you never see them), towed to the general area, and let them man handle their guns into position (anywhere within 300 yds or so), and say that if they move out of the 300yd circle, they only have the round in the breech, and have to be in that circle to have any more ammo.
Also let them "dig in" by putting a small dirt mound in front of them up to the point that the gun can fire level, and then make it so the gun will only move within its limited traverse, and if they want to adjust it, they have to move the gun (may not be as protected by the entrenchment).
Reasons for inclusion:
Will be great for setting up in the maps with V bases in the canyons (set up when your side is getting hammered, and have your guys retreat past them so the enemy blindly follows into a trap.
Will let the M3's have some defense by towing an AT gun with them.
Great town defense weapons since you can put them in the little alleys tanks can't fit into.
Its easy, as I said, just take the Panzer's gun and mount it on a carrage.

It'd be cool, but the only flaw I see is that it'd be very easy to take out with aircraft.

Sounds like a good idea, but why would a German antitank gun be capable of being attached ingame to an American M3? And why in the world would you willingly admit during your written proposal that you are poorly informed on the subject (not knowing Sdkfz designation)? Never admit ignorance when you can avoid it. Not just for HTC forums but throughout your life!

ok all you need is the American 57mm AT gun for the allies also. this can be towed by the jeep also. The Pak 38 50mm would be more sufficient for the AT role in AH than the Pak40. Both the American M1 57mm and the Pak38 50mm were 3-4 man teams and could also be pushed in battle once deployed. These AT guns in AH could provide defense on choke points and if camo is added could be more lethal to Armor than the tanks we have IN the game... Imagine having one 57mm sitting in a grove and waiting for 3 panzers to drive by and then just shoot them in the rear...

How about a 90mm instead? Picture from Bougainville in 1944 :aok

1pLUs44, thats why I proposed we have a reduced icon range to simulate its small size and low silouette. Something like 500yds out would be good.
Trotter, I'm assuming that the germans wouldn't have invented some unique system of hitching the gun to a truck, or halftrack. And I'm ignorant of the designation of the halftrack as I never use it, and have never seen it in the game but once or twice.
321BAR, I'm asking for the Pak 40 as it uses an existing gun, so all HTC needs to do is modle the gun carrage, and add the ability to hitch it to an M3 or the Sdkfz 251. I would also like the Pak 38 or M1 for its ability to be hitched to a jeep, but that will come later once the usefulness of an AT gun is proven.
Rino, as I said to 321BAR, I would like a wider assortment of AT guns, but since the Pak 40 uses an existing gun, its a logical starting point. Also, your picture is just a red x.

Also, wouldn't mind the american 76mm AT gun since (when AT guns are proved useful) we'll be able to mount it in the firefly's turret and boom, you have an M4A3(76).
-
I wouldn't mind a cold pak for my 40. :bolt:

Would you all mind taking this serisouly, or at least don't post if you can't contribute? I'm honestly asking for this, and would really enjoy seeing it added to the game. Will piss off some GV'ers when they fail to alter how their SA works, and when they fail to rake a suspicious looking bush with MG fire.
Oh damn!!!! There's a reason for adding it I hadn't thought of: would give the hull and coaxil (maybe) mg's something to do (kill AT guns), as right now they just sit there withougt being used unless you're killing town.
-
HE rounds would be better for killing AT guns. They even kill M8s with a well placed shot
-
Well yeah, but are you going to lob an HE shell into every bush you see when you could lash them with MG rounds and wait for a hit sprite or for the bullets to ricochet off the splinter shield? After that, THEN you fire an HE shell at the bushes.
But now, lets develop some tactics, any suggestions?
I have just one:
M3 tows an AT gun to a small ridge, drives to enemy base, drags uppers back to AT gun to be killed.

Ok Nemesis, to be serious...yeah towed arty and AT would be nice...after more tanks that would be much more useful are added...or even self propelled arty and AT would be better than towed...and I believe you agreed to that in a previous thread.

Yes, I do agree that we need more tanks before we get towed Artty or (more than one) towed AT gun. But seeing as all HTC needs to do is model the carrage, and let the M3's (or Sdkfz 251) tow them, I figure this is a reasonable request. If HTC conciders this important, I wouldn't be suprised to find it in the next version, or maybe even in the next patch if HTC puts it on the top of the list. But since it isn't, I'm seeing maybe a few versions at minimum.
The reason I'm not asking for a new tank is that we just got some new (and unexciting IMO) additions, and with them came a truck load of glitches. Untill we have the unexplainable glitches fixed, I figure we can't expect to see much new modeling. So I'm asking for an existing gun to be mounted on a carrage and be towed by a halftrack.
Unless there is alot of modeling I'm not thinking about or recognizing, I think HTC could crank this one out in about a week or two.

I'm pretty sure it's not just the modeling but the programming as well...they would have to model the carriages properly, something that does not currently exist...then program the process of unhitching and setting up...then program the correct firing sequence...blah blah blah...I think you get the idea...not a simple 2 weeks and badabing you have towed weapons.

You're right, I hadn't thought of the programing. Ty gyrene81.
