You don't have to have an account to DL the game.

Download and install it again. I'm not positive but that error might be the one for the game not finding the things it needs to run.

From an :old: post: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,155911.0.html .

The error means the executable cannot find its resources to start.

One of two things normally cause this.

1)  The executable (aceshigh.exe) has been moved from its home to the desktop, instead of a shortcut.  Moving the executable back to its home directory will correct this.

2)  Someone did a restore point on your computer which wiped out the Aces High installation path and a subsequent patch would have rendered the game unplayable.  If the game is not listed in the Add/Remove Programs listing, then you need to re-install the entire game.

Your login name and password should be in your settings folder.

Your login name and password should be in your settings folder.

correct!   it is your login.cfg file  you can open it with notepad  (just be sure to not mark the .cfg file types as always open with notepad, leave that checkbox unmarked )

hope this helps
