Read the title. This is what keeps a lot of games alive (not saying that AH is dying), but it also makes them a lot more popular. I know a lot of you will deny it, but sometimes, unrealistic and/or custom game play is more fun. Dedicated-servers would allow people to set up their own server, with their settings and rules. Mods would be cool, but not as cool as dedi-servers or community made content. Now, what I mean by community made content, is like custom planes (GAH! I hate waiting for HiTech to add new planes, people do it faster themselves. Just look at FSX!), custom CVs and other custom things. I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I didn't find it in search.
I'm gonna get a helluva lot of negative feedback from you "superiors", aren't I?

Yup...
First, you know why other games are modded? Because the developers released some of the code in the way of a modpack or some other resource for those people who know how to build mods...it's a way to maintain interest in their games which happen to get old as soon as a new release hits the shelves....HTC hasn't done that, and most likely won't...ever.
Retail games make their money up front and it's up to the customers to maintain their own multiplayer resources...no client/server subscription games release any of their code for community modding.
None of the community mods for retail games are short term projects with the exception of maybe a few skins...and without the source code and someone who knows what programming language to use, nothing in the way of new models is created by the community.
-
Huge difference between something like Fallout 3 which is single player, and something like AH.
HTC keeps a very firm lock on anything other than skins, or terrains for very good reason.
-
But still, having more ways to play is game is better. Plus, you'll probably be able to get that plane that HTC said you wouldn't get if they do allow modding.
Just look at FSX and it's add-on planes. They have thousands! Why couldn't AH2 be the same? And it gets boring, playing alone, for those that don't have a paid membership (IMHO, you guys need a lower price), but a mod or new plane could spice it up.

There's the real problem right there...you do realize for the retail price of a brand new game you could play AH online for 4 months?
-
50 cents a day for the worlds best online flight sim is incredibly reasonable.
Many of us paid 2$ an hour with a 10 hour minimum for years.
-
New things are always nice, but many aren't quality. With HTC they assure quality in every plane, 164% detail.
Also like Ghosth said it used to be 2 bucks an hour, then it was 30 a month, they dropped it to 15 a month.
-
Yeah, they lowered it to 15? I thought it was 20 bucks a month... anyway, the thing about mods is that sometimes crap can be fun, IMHO.
-
+1 but it ain't happening.
-
No need of mods or any of that crap. Save your pennies ! This game may not be fun off-line, and boring, but on-line there are many things to do and many ways to do each. Just getting average in a fighter will take you months if not years. Get a subscription and come join the fun.
-
-1 Mods are toxic, for on-line play.

you do relise there are lots of user made single player offline missions you can download, and a mission editor to make your own missions?
-
What you've requested greatly resembles H2H. HTC has expressed they will eventually bring it back. I'm guessing it's somewhere near the bottom of the to-do list.
Here's one of my special arenas which I set up for those who didn't have Microsoft Flight Simulator:

Maybe it'd allow non-paying players have some fun...?

again, you can download lots of offline missions and use the mission editor to create your own..or maybe asksomeone in the community to make one for you.

I don't see a problem with non-paying members not having fun. It's sort of the point of making a fun pay to play simulation.
You pay to play because it's more fun that way. That gives HTC a reason to create it for us. We have fun, they earn a living.
Perhaps you could remind me about the benefits of having non-paying members since I can't think of any.

I'm non-paying, because I play offline for just realism.

Hmm, When I read HT's post, it came out as this in my head:
Actually it is the next last write on the to do list.
HiTEch
meaning only one item was lower on the list. B29? :D

HiTEch
I took it as the next big coding item on the to-do list. Hopefully he'll clarify.
Don't let me down HT! :pray
