Title: Waypoints
Post by: thndregg on March 23, 2010, 07:59:39 PM
Would it be possible to code into the game, a means of posting waypoints for your own use without necessarily posting a mission?
Also, could there be a way of posting waypoints and sending them to those in your squad? This borders on a wishlist item I made a while back about posting missions visible only to squad members.

Furthermore, while I'm at it: Would it be possible to retain the aircraft/gv skin of your own choosing while joining a mission, rather than the posted mission kicking it to default at launch?

Or give the mission creator the ability to choose a particular skin for each type of plane/vehicle.  Then, after the mission is over, you go back to your originally picked skin?

That ain't a bad idea either Banshee, but forget the missions for a moment......

Buff pilots currently steer towards target without any type of mathematical function (ingame)........  I think it would be super duper if we could actually open the map and plot points that would give use a heading.  That way, only small, subtle changes need to be made in heading as the bomber approaches!!!

This is a GREAT WISH!

This is a good idea, particularly for squad nights in the MA.

Right now if a member comes on late, he has to ask a series of questions: where are you/what plane/loadout/alt/target?

Imagine instead if waypoints would appear on the map, and clicking a waypoint would bring up a small box with plane, loadout, altitude.

A latecomer could just look for the green clump on the map, or simply ask what WP everyone is approaching, and immediately be able to take the right setup and navigate an intercept course.

Yes, I like this and wish it could be implemented.  If not for any other reason it would allow me a reference line when I am on a bombing run.  Currently we have to orientate our approach to target based on your specific target (i.e. FH, BH, VH, etc, etc) as the field sits on the map so you can be lined up accordinly on your final bomb run.  The waypoints would really help in the pre-planning aand allow you to follow your route without the countless course corrections as we all do now.

Great idea, love it!!!!

Thanks, folks. I hope this pans out in the future. If waypoints can be posted in missions for participants to see, and if CV waypoints can be plotted, I see very little reason (from my ignorant-about-coding view) why this would not work.
