Try setting the game to run in "Windows 98/Windws ME" compatibility mode. Also, make sure you are not running the game with the "Detailed Terrain" checked in Options->Graphic Detail->Advanced. The 9400GT card does not have the processing power to maintain that option.
-
Would "Page File: 1390MB used, 4750MB available" also indicate many background processes running?
-
With Windows 7 and Vista, 1GB of page file used is not unusual. They both like to eat up memory.
-
Run game bosster so lot of thats tuff is off. used to xp so this new 7 windows is all new to me.
I do have detail terrian off. will try running in 98 mode. but like I said did not have any problems till last patch and then nothing but.
-
I am having the same problems since the patch. I cannot even play offline missions without getting locked up. Have to reboot the maching to get out.

My system specs, some help appreciated.

Might want to update that video card driver and check for a later sound card driver.
Also make sure you are not running with "Detailed Terrain" enabled and the "Maximum Texture Size" is set to 256.
If any of you are running custom sounds, get rid of them.

now that is a HIGH pagefile useage on winXP......... you prob have 50+ processes running at boot-up I would suspect.......
-
ok, thanks.
No detailed graphics, or custom sounds set.
I'll check those out the other suggestions , but why the big difference in performance from 2.17 to 2.18?
-
Good catch TC, I missed it. 815MB is pretty significant. It should be around 175MB, or less.

New damage model, among other things.

The game is still unplayable, my drivers are up to date. I followed your other advice as well, still no dice.
-
What is running in the background on that computer?
-
Just the same basic stuff that's always loaded up, it had never been a problem before. Maybe its the same problem that a lot of other folks are having trying to play offline missions with warp segments. I was really wanting to practice a good bit before trying the online arenas out.
Thanks for the help
