Anyone have this one? How did I do?
I've been on a 19" CRT for 10+years.
My video card is kinda weak an 8600 (or is it 8900? GTS)
Anyways, what resolution would you recommend?

1920x1080 is listed as the native resolution and that's what you want to use.
Use the DVI-D to connect and you should be good to go. You can use the VGA but DVI-D is a digital signal. Get your cables here:

They are as good or better than monster cables and a heck of a lot cheaper.
I use an 8800 gts on a 42" lcd monitor so you should be o.k. for now.

Thanks :aok

welcome to 1080P gaming, you'll never look back. i think your card can do it, just lower details a bit.

Well, one thing i didn't realize is this monitor will only do 60 hz....or 60 frames in-game.
Not a dealbreaker I guess as 60 is plenty if it stays up there.

60 is great so long as it doesn't fluctuate a lot. You really only need higher(say 120hz) if you want to try your hand at 3D gaming.

60 for an LCD is normal. I've got a 22" LG with a 2ms response rate and I love it.

Yes.. the hz rating means almost nothing when it comes to LCD monitors. 60 is pretty much standard for LCD's (except for some rare exceptions, including 3d sets).
Refresh rate is going to be much more important... lower = better. You'll want 8ms or less, although these days except for very low grade monitors, 2ms-5ms is pretty much standard.
Also with LCD's... well they ALWAYS run at their 'native' resolution. The pixels cannot change sizes. If you select a lower resolution, the monitor has to 'blow-up' the picture to fit the screen... either that or draw black borders around it... either way you either get a distorted picture, or you'll be squinting to see the image. Now obviously some monitors do a better job at this than others, but you'll find that you'll be running it at its native resolution 99% of the time (if not all the time).

I think your confusing Refresh Rate(Which is measured in HZ) and Response Time(or Response Rate, what have you). Generally I'd suggest 5ms and 2ms is grand.

You are correct... I meant response rate, not "refresh rate".

I've ordered the cable. Hoping I notice a difference when I get it.

I just went from a 60hz monitor to a 120hz monitor and it's unreal how much smoother games play @ 120 . It's like playing on a wide screen CRT , any type of motion is so fluid ......I love it . My setup hold frame rates @ 120 most of the time , the lowest i've noticed is in the 90's . It's hard to explain but it's really made my gaming more enjoyable.
-
Well, my system is not high-end. It's midrange I'd say. AMD quad at 2.6 on XP with an 8800GTS. I can't afford to really upgrade anything else real soon; so I think if I can get it to stay pegged @ 60 it will be OK.
I just got the DVI cable will report again later if it's any different.

Mehh no big difference with new cable. Certainly no worse though
