Title: Novice Music Making
Post by: thndregg on March 28, 2010, 09:37:56 AM
I'm still learning the program, but this is my other PC hobby along with Aces High. I made this (work-in-progress) using Renoise, a sound sample/MIDI tracker (www.renoise.com). I'm not done yet, so be careful with your speakers/headphones. http://www.mediafire.com/?me52znnijwe

Thank you. Like I said, I'm still learning the program. Once you've got the basic mechanics down of how it works, you can create virtually anything.

Here's another I made a while back on my old PC before it crapped on me once upon a time.

EDIT: Thanks, Lepape2. Yeah, I figured I had some issues with this piece, lol.  :D

I've been doing this off-and-on over several years, but it's been extremely inconstistent. I started out with a similar program on the the old 486 PC's called Scream Tracker, then they evolved it to Impulse Tracker. I was extremely gratified to find out they geared this program more for Windows. The previous programs were DOS based.

Sounds okay but I you want some suggestions, you might need more compression and a lower stronger bass (50-75Hz). Overall beat sounds technically correct and sets the mood of the piece. Although a couple background Pads could add more depth. That's just me though, but i'm sure you are used to critique. Keep it up! How long you been doing music?

I specialize in FL Studio with orchestral music and electro/house and been checking out newer genres lately.
Here is my latest song: http://www.youtube.com/user/lepape2?feature=mhw4#p/u/0/2JnNyOVra8s (http://www.youtube.com/user/lepape2?feature=mhw4#p/u/0/2JnNyOVra8s)

Sounds really cool, sir. I'll be glad to get to that point where my stuff has that much substance. Good ear-candy. :)

Sounds good.

Here's a little something I made a few years ago with Acid Music.

Hmm, can't say I'm a fan of ambient/jungle music but this is very well produced. Sounds professional and to the point. Very natural. Did you do this for a movie contract or some sort of similar product or did you do this just as a hobby?

Just a hobby.  This was my first attempt at putting together a tune.  Since then, life has gotten in the way and just haven't had time to fix the 1/4 beat skip in the song, or try to compose another.

Maybe in a few years when the kids are out of the house....
