Title: Need help w/Luftwaffe Pilot
Post by: MORAY37 on March 28, 2010, 02:29:05 PM
I have been doing some genealogy work on both sides of my family and I am currently trying to find information and records on a Luftwaffe pilot who is likely a distant relative.

(Lusche, by all means)

Fred Bollmann,(Alfred) a Knight's Cross recipient 10.29.1944.

About the most I can find currently is that he was attached to (commanded III gruppe) KG 55 when he earned the Knight's Cross, and ended the war as an Upper Staff Judge. It appears he was an He-111 pilot, and was in command of III gruppe at the Battle of Kursk.

Quote
III./K.G. 55
Major Wilhelm Antrup (bis 07.08.1943)
Major Alfred Bollmann
          He 111H-11/16         Charkow-Rogan' und Stalino (bis 4.8.1943)
Dnjepropietrowsk

Any help from those with knowledge of source matter is most appreciated.   :salute

You could try contacting these guis for a start.
I have Bergström's email somewhere, - corresponded with him some years back, and he was quick to answer.
PM me if you want it.
As a sidenote, I had this worker-girl on the farm with the surname "Bats". I joked about it and said "You must be a relative of Willy Batz, the famour LW ace. Turned out that she actually was. Poor girl was quite baffled about a common farmer showing off with that :D
