Title: Switching Countries
Post by: mjsmoke on March 28, 2010, 03:39:22 PM
If a person is to leave a country they should  HAVE to stay with that country for the remainder of the tour!

No. Then the guys who fly for low #'s can't switch.

How about when you log into the arena the side balancing code puts you on the country with the lowest numbers and there is no option to switch.

So?

So?
The point of joining a squad is usually to have people to fly with, not against.

Not sure that work...but what if you log into game and bish have 150 in orange and 75 in blue. Then you can have entry blue arena but if all side close to equal sides then either one. I used bish because I am normally bish. So in your 32 person squad roster if they want to switch to balance number in arena you could still all fly together. To many time I see bish horde in blue and Rooks in Orange with greater number but you can get into that arena help balance numbers. Say you can't switch side for first 3 hours.

I would have to think that this would be bad for the community at large.  I think we can all probably agree that one of the best things about this silly little game is the friendships that have developed around it.

If we can all accept that statement than ponder this one...

If I didn't switch countries I wouldn't have two thirds of the friends I do now.

:)

Well if your guys would like to fly on different countries that would be their choice, but you should choose which side you would like to fly for and stick with it for the remainder of the tour.

Why?  How would only being able to switch once per tour help the game?

I'm fine with the way it is now. Usually it's is not terribly offset with Bishops and Knights being 10-15 player difference during the busy hours of the night, and Rooks always about 20+ players.

Rufus, I did not widen anything. It's a direct continuation (and he knows this) from the 5-page post on the main forums. Posted immediately on the heels of it, no less.

EDIT2: ah, there we go: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,286209.0.html
I was not involved, nor do I endorse mass reporting.  This topic has been handled very well by Skuzzy.

Back to the OP, it is about a way to discourage "spying."  Side switching is a drop in the bucket.  Shade accounts, old buddies, ratting on 200, and a million other ways to "spy" exist.  To restrict side changing more than the current set up would cause more pain to guys who just want to switch than pain to the tiny minority of griefers.

By keeping squads together for the entire tour on one country, but if they wanted to be on the opposing countries they would have to wait til the next tour to see or fly with there friends/squadmates!

I respect that you guys (AoM) like to switch sides to balance the countries numbers or what ever you say...But when guys like TW9 clearly state "I only spy on claim jumper missions :aok" That's just as bad as...

Announcing a mission on public channel is just cheesy and pathetic.
That goes for squads telling there squadmates where certain people are flying.

It ain't broken, why try to fix it?

For every person who logs in to "spy" there are 10 who change to help the lowest # country.

Why would you punish them?

Any change at this point is not going to go where you want.
It would go towards auto-balancing of sides.

Preferred the 24 hour limit that was formerly imposed.

most people dont switch to help the lowest, they change to get more perks due to eny.  call it whatever you want but that's what it is.  people change countries when it is to their advantage either to rack up more kills ( see the guy in 262 flying next to u then switches comes back and kills u?) or to get more perks per kill.  No such thing as helping the low side.  I was with the nites last couple of days, we were getting hammered on both sides but we held  :rock, and only saw lots of people switch because we started kicking butts in furballing.  once some noticed that we were killing everything around, they switched "to help"  :rofl.  PLEASE dont insult me like that.  they switched cause they got tired of dying and wanted some kills  :rofl.

so dont make it sound like its a noble thing that some people will switch sides to help.  there's a few that I know that do  :aok.  the rest of you only switch because you got tired of dying.

Lame that anyone would switch for easier fights.  Muppets switch when we are surrounded by green and can't find anything to shoot at.
