Post by: eagl on March 29, 2010, 01:23:19 PM
My understanding is that this was at an international competition, and these guys won...

Thanks for the link - outstanding team.

I went to a small military school in MN, waaay back in 1959 - they had a class act drill team there. Here's a link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j195iybceO0

EDIT: My last duty position was a Honor Guard....you learn that none of it is actually silent. Some short guy is in the middle of the ranks calling the cadence ;)

The simple fact of the matter is that all of those guys are kick butt at what they do for the drill teams they represent.

Looked like a military tattoo rather than a competition, and from the name Navy@Norway I gather it was this one:

Up to 8 hours to prep a uniform   :O.

Yeah these are special soldiers  :salute

this goes into what a tomb soldier goes through in a day.  After the commercial it starts.  Pretty neat behind the scenes.

Jebus, I will have to admit that the tomb soliers are kick bellybutton and they deserve all the respect in the world. I know what it is like to stand guard at a memorial for 2 hours and ther POA makes you more tired than 2 hours of physical exertion.

But IMO the Marine Corps Silent Drill Team is the schiznit. If I remember correctly they are the only ones to use "live" bayonets in their routine.

They are the best at drill for sure, but Tomb soldiers are a completely different category.

They actually have contingencies already choreographed for these types of things.  Like if someone gets their cover knocked off, for example.
