The JU 88 and the AR 234 were capable of (and did use operationaly) Bombs bigger than the current 500KG option we have. If allied Buff's get to use their "Big Ones" why can't the Germans use this option?
Spreng Cylindrisch (sc) or general purpose bomb:
SC 1000 (2,205lb): Used both on the JU 88 and AR 234(Centerline on the are 234 with 2 250kg bombs on the engine, or on the inner rack's on the JU 88 A-4, In fact the JU 88 could cary 2 1000kg bombs as well as 2 500kg bombs on the outer racks at the same time.)
PC 1400: A bunker buster, and anti ship bomb,a whopping 3,086lb's this could be carried on the centerline mount on the AR 234.
The SC 1000 would be a great addation adding more flexabality to bombing sorties for German buff's, the same kind that the Allies enjoy curentaly.
The PC 1,400 would be fun to use for Certain mishions, slung under the belly of the AR 234 it would make a nice clean "Big Punch" package.

I agree Brady before we get a he177 as some have called for can we atleast expand the ord options for the planes we currently have.
That goes for all planes.
I understand HTC models to fill a need that is missing. I dont see it as a major need especially if it would interfere with the developement of a needed plane plane type.
However I would very much like to have ord loadouts match as close to rl as possible.

Hmmm..yes... the 2X2k bomb option for the P-38 would hit the spot :)
-
I thought 1000kg bombs took too much space to fit bombs in outer racks of Ju88?
-
heck I'd like 1,500KG load for the late war 190s

I beleave the 1000KG bombs went on the JU 88's inner racks only, and the 500kg bombs went on the outer rack's.
I was looking over some of my books on the P 38 and discovered(unless my sources are in eror), that the p 38 model capable of carying the 2 2k bombs did not see combat, howeaver my sorces repeatedly stated that it could carry 2 1,600lb bombs for a total bomb load of 3200lb's.
Now that being said I looked further(not having heard of a 1,600 lb US bomb before), for data on the 1,600 lb bomb, could not find it anywhear, so I concluded that, that weight was for bombs and rockets (this being the total amount of external load it was capable of schleping.)
So unless sombody can prove( I hope so) other wise I think that the curent bomb configuration for the P 38 is correct.

Heya,
How about the 4,000 Pound bomb load for the F4U? It flew many missions with a load of a center line 2K bomb and two 1K bombs.
Also they used two Tiny Tim 11.75 inch Rockets. Essentially a rocket powered 1K eggs.
In Korea the AU-1(F4U-6) flew with up to 6,000lbs of bombs off of a carrier deck. Not bad huh?

Hi Brady,
the Junkers Ju 88A-4 actually was capable of carrying an SC 1800 bomb on each wing's inboard bomb rack (Bukowski/Griehl, "Junkersflugzeuge 1939 - 1945", ISBN 3-86070-867-8).

Outstanding!
Runs to book room to double check!
The reasion I focused on the SC 1000, was that If moddeled Pyro could kill two birds with one stone he could use it on the JU 88 and the AR 234, as far as I know other than what we curentaly have, the only ordance that both could use that is not moddeled(bomb wise) are some cluster bomb types. Also SC is the general pourpous bomb as stated, their were other types of course in the same weight range.
-
don't forget the napalm! :D
and the cluster bombs!
I would love to see these types of ordinance modelled (especially napalm!!)

IMHO upping the Arado's bomb load might make it's perk value more worthy (now that the 262 can easily counter the Ar234).
I do think with the 262, it should allow the Blitz to finally gain it's defensive armament.

I remember, a post that Pyro( I think it was Pyro) replyed to about the MG 151/20 being absent on the AR 234. The reply stated that they had intended to add it but they had problems geting the sight to work and droped it before it's release.if you look at the outside of the AR 234 you can see the the gun openings on the back of it.hey whear is that drag chute?, that would come in handy too :)

Hi Brady,
From my earlier post:

COOL Scans :)

In ADDITION!!
Not sure if it was the G55 or 2005 was capable of carrying a 2000lb+ bomb on centreline
AND at Pearl Harbor the japanese used 1800kg(or was it lbs?) modified AP shells.

Ya:)

All good ideas.
Anyone know which german bomber carried the 'Satan'? SC1800. as far as I know this was the largest GP bomb dropped on UK soil during WW2. (and if I'd read HoHuns post properly I'd know, oops ;) )
As always LRG is the place to go for WW2 german bomb specs

Not sure whether to believe it or not but I just did a quick search and apparently the Ju87D could mount an SC1800 as well

yup even 2000lbers isnt anywhere near the biggest LW used, and allies didnt have the monopoly on napalm either.

P-38L-5-LO had strengthened racks underneeth specificly for the purpose of carrying 2000 pounders and/or 300 gallon drop tanks (300 gallons of gas weighs about 2500 lbs)
F4UDOA - is that 1st pic Korean War era? - i've read F4U-1d carried bombs on underwing racks in addition to centerline point for D/T. i've also read that the AU-1 could carry 8500 lbs total (but probably not off the carrier deck) - 2nd pic looks to have a 1944 number on it, but that field looks too nice to be a combat ops field - Wright field maybe?
