I remember plane models on wires in BoB scenes. :headscratch:

And the awkward looking bf108

WW1- Blue Max (what else is ther)
WW2- Midway/BoB
-
How about:
Tora Tora Tora
The War Lover
Twelve O'clock High
Just to mention a few.
-
Some memorial day classics:
My personal favorite-
"To Hell and Back" with Audie Murphy
"Midway"
Never have seen all of "Patton", "The longest Day" or "Battle of Britain"

Dark Blue World anyone?? Sheesh, better than anything
-
Is there any way that we can get a decent war movie made now that doesn't have a freaking love story intertwined with it.
-
They just dont make movies like tora tora tora and midway or iwo jima or any of those great all star cast movies they used to have and i for one miss them epic ww2 films. Wonder why that is? Is it political correctness or budget or nobody wants to be in one or just no fan base anymore? Any thoughts?

It was good but I wouldn't consider it to be one of the best air combat movies, it seemed like it was more a tragic love story than anything else.
Piece of Cake, on the other hand is an excellent mini-series about a fictional RAF squadron at the start of WW2. Remember watching it around 20 years ago on Masterpiece Theater. Think you can order the DVD from Amazon.
ack-ack

Those 2 are probably about the only war movies I haven't seen :(

I was talking strictly about the air combat sequences. Yeah the side plot was dull and slow, but it is some of the best aerial footage I've seen in a movie in a long time.

yeah for one or two crash scenes. the rest was all real aircraft

Merlin-powered 109's make me cringe.

The Spitty-footage was quite good in Dark-Blue. And Piece of Cake?! I always wanted them, so thanks for the reminder. Would it be a part of it if you go to YOUTUBE and put "Spitfire under bridge" into the search??? Weren't the Hanna's involved with it as well?
Then to the topic. Didn't anyone mention "Aces High" for a WW1 movie? (This is why HT needs to put the SE5 in)
WWII also has...the Memphis Belle ;)
