Okay, If the women are that hot in Austrailia...here I come :bolt: And who was that hot blond? Everyone liking The Pacific so far? -AB

Kind of funny, one thing that comes up time and time again in reading stories from servicemen in the south pacific and I can't think of a single case where they had anything but praise for the Australians. With a lot of the men folk deployed and apparently the U.S. Servicemen were highly paid by comparison, they enjoyed their leave in Australia. :)

Oh my we are obsessed taking pics of the TV screen.

it looked good to me!

I'd love to see some story focused around the naval aspect, and the aircraft battles that took place.

They need to do one on Torpedo 8

I remember when we were scheduled to go into Brisbane, all of my Marines had pretty much lined up chicks on the social media sites before we even got there. Not to mention that every stripper in country, it seemed like, new the port visit schedule for that float.

So far I'd have to give it an 8 out of 10. It was 10 out of 10 before Episode 3, but I guess they needed to tell about getting some much needed "down under" liberty and unwinding after the big battle. Hanks said before the series started that it was going to explore how the men reacted outside of battle and not focus solely on the fighting.

Isobel Lucas...she was mostly known for a soap called "Home And Away", but she was in Transformers 2, Daybreakers and going to be in the new Red Dawn
I liked ep3, the wifes from Melbourne so it was interesting to see the take on the city circa '43
Tronsky

I am sorry but the episode was down right/under boring.

Although ep3 wasn't the most exciting, It was nice to see those gents get some down time after the hell they'd been through.

Yeah, me too...as long as Marines are the primary focus like they are in this series.
I wonder if there will be another series after this one? Would be cool if it were based on fighter pilots.

My old college roommate ended up marrying an Aussie girl - she's a fantastic woman.
Makes me wonder why I bother with the American ones, frankly.

"They need to do one on Torpedo 8".
They did - or rather John Ford did. He filmed the actual squadron itself aboard ship before Midway, as part of his wartime film work for the US Navy. After the entire squadron was lost attacking the Japanese fleet he sent copies of the film to the next-of-kin of those brave men. It wasn't shown at the time in case civilian morale suffered but I saw part of one which was released on the Wobbly Web a few years ago, although I haven't managed to trace it since.
The film he shot on Midway before, during and after the IJN's air-raid has been shown many times; here's a link to it:

Yup, that's what the folks back Stateside were allowed to see: all 'Marine Hymn' and derring-do, the propaganda of the time and not a patch on his VT-8 footage.
To John Waldron and the men of VT-8 :salute

Yeah that would be a good one, either the PTO or the ETO.

Keeping in the theme of Guadalcanal, The Cactus Air Force makes for a great story, considering the absolute hell they went through and how often their fate hung by a thread.
-
A Taffey 3 episode would be nice. Those DD crews had cast iron testicles.
-
Just remember that the things we think are "cool" may or may not be marketable by Hollywood. Let's face it, if Spielberg/Hanks hadn't gotten behind these last two series, we'd be stuck with a bunch of "almost" war movies. Lets just hope that this one makes as much money as BoB does, so that there's some momentum to carry them to the next project, be it 8th AF, Last of the Tin Cans, or whatever...

So many stories to tell.
Then .. there's the stories from the 'other side' .. they could spend lifetimes :)
I'd love to see a well made story of Galland's life .. among others.

NEXT week looks action filled.
Can't wait.
