here is a picture of La-7 with clipped wings... It doesnt fly fast nor the performance good, but It could be due to missing elevator (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Hehe. Ever seen a Tempest bis? I managed it all on my own, in H2H. I rolled over in a split-s, way too low to the ground. I saw it coming up fast, realized that my chances of pulling out in time were approximately nil, panicked, pulled back the stick as hard as I could, completing the black out begun by my already wounded condition. I heard a loud double crack! and figured that I had augered. Figuring that my return to he tower was being delayed by lag, I waited a few seconds. Imagine my surprise when I "came to" to find myself missing both wingtips! I was about to use my rudder to come about and see if I could land when I ran out of fuel (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif). Oh well. It was funny while it lasted.

Actually Spit shot off my right wingtip, so i disengaged and went to land... As i came close to the field another Spit showed up and tried to finish me off... Nothing I could really do as only to watch him spraying rounds around me... He got my guns, elevator and second wingtip... fortunatly for me another kind soul erased him from my six (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I found myself still having a little controll over the plane, but it took me nearly 10 minuts of giant flat-flat turn circles ariund the field to land it... When I did I was really surprised since I thought it was not possible... On the other hand landing plane with such "clipped" wings was rather easier than landing with one wing at 1/2....
<S> to both Spits who couldnt finish their job
