I have been notified that i will be one of ten people who will be the co-author for a targeted grazing synthesis paper under the Society of Rangeland Management - target grazing committee. The title will be, "Targeted Grazing: Managing Livestock Grazing to Manage Vegetation".
For those who do not know what target grazing is, it is a new alternative approach of using domestic animals to grazed specifically on invasive exotic weeds, reducing fire risk wildland-urband interface. This is chemical free way of approaching the issue with out resorting the used of herbicides.

No no no, you just spray female pheromones on the plants you want killed and let the bulls loose on them :D

HUMMM, now that dose sound interesting except most of the time the bull will be separate from the herd.

Actually that was 2 questions. And the answer to your interrogatory is yup.

Hmm, human life spans have almost doubled in the last century. I think chemicals are fine :aok :aok

I had a co-worker who used goats to clear the weeds in his backyard.

Congratulations! :)

Goats are great herbivores for target grazing, they will grazed on just about all the weeds we have.

Tell me this, dose it pay off using chemicals year after year where you can used a specifice livestock that can do the job and pay it self off when you take in to the livestock auction? Ofcource you may be limited to used chemical for your yard but on large tract land you can bentifit using livestock.

Not a goat roper, i am a rangeland management specialist or range ecologist.
Second question is a good one. To practice target grazing on weeds, there are few way to do this. All plants are classified as palatable or non-palatable according to each grazing animal. Goat and sheep will grazed just about anything where cattle are predominantly grazed on some grass. The timeing of grazing to is a factor on when to pratice target grazing. There are other factors that i can go on but the important part about target grazing come down to knowing when you have a infestation problem and what is the best way to handle it.

Oakranger, no offense bud but please tell us that an editor is going to go over your work with a fine tooth comb...you're mastery of the English language in written form is horrendous.
Congratulations on the authorship though...getting research work published is a lot of work. :salute

Oh, and i am not offended at all. I have a written disorder and accept the fact that i will struggle with it. However, getting on discussion boards like AH dose help me a lot to improve.
