I recently just got a kickass new computer that can run AH well and downloaded the hi res texture pack.
The numbers in the cockpits are blurry and barely readable at points so my question is...
Is there a special place in the AH folder catalog to put the hi res textures?
-
The hi res file should be in your main AH folder. Make sure you are running 1024 texture size or the hi res won't kick in.

Ok
thanks.
Probably need to screw around with the video settings on my monitor.
-
Just a simple checklist:
Download AH.exe
Install Game
Download HiResTex.exe
Set in-game Texture to 1024 (From the main screen go to Video Options/settings and change it) While there make sure you have resolution set to the Monitor's native.
Install HiResTex.exe (don't change the install location)
Start game and done
Some planes Ammo counters seem to be a little "iffy" to read even still, but normally not to the point of unreadable.

The highres is a self extracting EXE file. It should automatically list the AH install directory when it asks you to unzip. Most times you don't have to change that. I just hit "next" and it's done.
Then make sure you have set it to 1024 (double check settings) and it should work.
Here's an easy way to tell if you're at 1024 or 512: Launch a B-17 offline and look at the cockpit. Compare to this:
To aid in comparison, note your in-game cockpit placards, which are all part of the bitmaps. Note the logo on your steering yoke. They become much clearer on 1024 resolution.

having the same issue....great pc but no hires tex pack showing up ...all texture set properly.
could the monitors native res of 1900 by 1080 be keeping it from kicking in?????????

The newest hi res pack came out on March 10th. Do you guys have that current pack installed? It came out the same day as version 2.18 patch 0.

There is no magic to this folks.
Download and run the high resolution texture pack, then set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 1024 in the game "Video Settings". That is all there is to it.

Ok I fixed my issue. If you had downloaded the older hi res pack the self installer would not put it in the ah folder (windows 7 issue?) so i removed the old pack and downloaded the march release one. This fixed my res problem as it installed properly to the ah folder.

An older version of the high resolution pack would cause all manner of problems.

I'm fairly certain mine is operating correctly...but one post in this thread made me question things...
someone said the high rez should be in the AH folder...mine of course is not..it sits next to my AH folder in the downloads secion of my puter.
shall I leave well enought alone skuzzy...or am I supossed to drop and drag the High Rez foler INTO the AH folder?

The high resolution file you download from the site is an executable that installs the high resolution texture pack. Once you run it, you can delete it or keep it around so you know what version you have installed.
