Post by: Spatula on April 05, 2010, 04:45:39 AM

Thanks Spatula, awesome.  When it wasn't working I had tried re-installing and somehow wiped out all the old files.  Whoops.

The program seizes up when I try to download pilot data.  :cry  I tried a bunch of times.  Then tried downloading net 2.0 as instructed on the download page but not compatabile with 64 bit systems (i have windows7-64bit).  Strange because the program worked on this computer previous to the last AH update.

Any ideas?  Anyone...anyone...Bueller...B ueller?

Hmm, i havent tested it against Win7 or a 64bit platform - as i have neither. Does anyone else on win7 or anyone with a 64 bit vista or win7 have the above issue?

Hi Palef! Yer, been way too long, eh? I've been way too busy with family life and dodgy health even to log in to the game very much at all. Im hoping i can get some more time someday... ;) <S>

Hi Spatula,

I am using Windows 7 64bit and have no problems using the program.  Great work.

I see there are other win7 64 bit users which it works on, so maybe its a firewall issue getting in the way?

I had the last version working fine on the same computer until the recent AH update.  I deleted all that and started with a fresh install.  Just checked the firewall and made sure the program is allowed.  When I try to download pilot data, it looks good.  The bar fills up green and when it gets to the end, I see this:

In your install directory, you will find some files with a .dump extension. Delete all of them, then re-run the app so it crashes, then mail me the new .dump file :)

Do you have more than one month of WW1 data?

I figured out what happened.  :x   When installing, the default location is "Program Files X86".  I reinstalled in Program Files and it works like a charm.
Choker, if you have Windows7, that's probably what's wrong in your case too.

One other thing - make sure you were active in all the tours you download or it will crash.

Thanks Spat!  :salute

I just tried it on a win7 64bit virtual machine and got the same problem. THe issue appears to be a permissions error writing to the install directory. You will need to grant write permissions to that folder and its sub-folders for the logged in user (or for all/any user or group who wants to use it).

I will have to do some investigation around win 7 security settings etc, so people wont have to do the manual permissions step. But for now the setting write permission on the install dir should fix your problem.

Alternatively, you can right click the shortcut and select "run as administrator" that should also work.

OR, yet another way is to install to a directory which is not "Program Files (X86)" or "Program Files" - try altering the install directory to "C:\AKUAG\Aces High Pilot Stats\"

Are you trying to install the 32 bit version of the framework? the 64 bit version will work fine.

Hey Spat,

It apparently is not compatible with windows vista running 64 bit. It just locks up the pc when I try to download the data. Thats a darn shame too. Let me know if you need any more info. i would love to run the program. Thanks for working on this for us.

Did you try changing the default install location when you install? Try changing it to install to C:\AKUAG\Aces High Pilot Stats

thinking about that, you you shouldnt need to install .NET 2.0 on Vista, as i believe it comes with it pre-installed. So just try installing the stats app - it will tell you at install-time whether you need anything extra (which i doubt you will).
