Title: Jasta 4 Fokker DVII 'Du doch nicht'
Post by: Mus51 on April 06, 2010, 11:13:03 AM
Hey guys,

I started this Jasta 4 D7 flown by Ersnt Udet, but i have absolutely no clue what to do with the underside of the wings. I think i need lots of help on this one in order to make it look accurate!

I'm still a far way from finished as i still have to fix a merge, do the damage model (still didn't figured it out yet) and get rid of those red icons on the black nose part. (If anyone can help me find these parts in the bitmap it would be highly appreciated).

Please tell me what you think!

My appoligies for not resizing them

Are the Iron Crosses on tail and fuselage correctly aligned? Other than that, I dont have anything else to say other than "great job!"  :aok

kilo, i would love to send this one in, but as I'm not sure about historical accuracy i doubt submitting is a good idea.

Dutch, I don't know if this helps or not, but here's a link to where I got my D.VII profile.  Profile 13 is this a/c you posted here, plus the bottom of the page shows the top-down profile of this bird also.

I'm far from an expert, but I do see one thing that strikes me as "off".  The red in the lozenge pattern on the top of your lower wing.  Even though it matches the color of the skin (which makes it look better), from what I've read so far, this wouldn't be accurate.  See the links in this thread to see what I mean:

One last thing (sick of me yet?), the base red-orange color of the a/c seems over-saturated, almost glowing.  Just my untrained opinion of course, but I think it would look better & more fabric-like if the saturation was turned down some just on that base color.

 :salute

Thanks for that Ranger, i looked in it in game and its not that orange as it seems over here for some odd reason, i have to check that out. As for the lozenge pattern, thanks for that material! Lets see if i can fix this one in time!

More importantly, there's a photograph of the bird on page 27 :)
