Hello fellow rooks and YAY for Titanic Tuesdays return!
Welcome to this week's Titanic Tuesday
Epic Mission for April 6th 2010.
Launch Time approximately 8:00pm Central Daylight Time
Interesting map for tonights Titanic Tuesday looks like our route will
be mostly over water to the target. I still have not decided on whether
or not we will be attacking the Knights or the Bish tonight at the time
of planning this mission both enemy strats are on the coastline.
I know for planning purposes our route will be South 2 North over the
enemy's Industrial Center.

We came we saw we annihilated the Knight Strats if there were any spies tracking our mission we sure didn't see what effect they possibly had...
Looking at the Film we upped with 40 Bombers, cruised with 34 bombers, and hit the city with 30 buffs.
We had about 30+ escorts according to the film saw a few regulars come and try to attack us. I hope these missions are
not only fun for us rooks every Tuesday Night but also for the Knights and Bishops that try to intercept us every week.
Bad news about my disco though...just as I was pickling my first bomb drop on row "F" I was disconnected.
I attempted to gun for my fellow buff drivers when I managed to get back in game. Every time I was accepted I was
disconnected until I did a complete restart but even then i had to drop my graphics down to the lowest setting.
Seems weird when I'm packing a Windows 7 64 bit OS fueled by 16gigs of ram and Dual HD4870's running in crossfire mode
with a Core I7 2.67 quad-core processor that my computer wouldn't be able to handle the graphics or stay connected.
-
I also wanted to <S> everyone for joining up and I would post the mission film but it stops
rolling at 1 hour and 57 seconds right before we drop on the Industrial center.
-

Just out of curiosity, what happened to the 6 bombers?

I would very much appreciate it if someone would post a film of this mission just for viewing pleasure :).

next time Ill have a return fire ready, complete with enough fighters to deal with yours while a squad of b25h pilots blast down the buffs

a squad of b25h pilots blast down the buffs
they fly at 25-30,000ft try runing down a B17 at that alt with a B25 and youll see having more wont make them faster...
If the mission was run at 15,000ft i would say go for it :aok

Well for you bomber killers out there. I hope you get ready to see a P51D come in on you. Also anybody wanna be 1st in command or 2nd in command for the fighter group of swoops epic mission.

You spelled 'Crusaders' incorrectly.

What a completely EPIC mission! My hat is off to Swoops :salute Even with the handicap of his getting discoed, he still was back on channel and helping everyone to get home. Excellent job on the plane sets too. By far the best MA mission I have ever seen! :aok

These missions, along with the FSO are definitly the highlight of my Aces High week and I thank you guys for doing them. I am always the apposing force, maybe one of these days I will switch and be an escort or a bomber to feel how it is from the other side. I did manage to meet the group inbound but had a poor angle and insufficient altitude for any kind of decent pass so I loiterd and climbed and waited for your egress. Met you guys head on and pinged about 6 or 7 of ya as I manuvered through the group, taking a bit of damadge in return. I was coming back around to try and get ahead for another HO pass when there was that lonely B17 trying to rejoin the group. He had several escorts within icon range but to no avail because either they did not see me or did not want to get too far away from the main group and I did manage to get one kill.
I have been attacking you guys for months now and it is never about the kill, but rather the thrill that is so exciting.
Next week, I think I shall await your arrival in a ME110.
:salute Thanks swoops, keep up the good work.

I filmed it from just before takeoff to landing safely, but did it in 7 or 8 parts to keep the file sizes lower.
Hope to have some time to get it posted.

And for this week?????

Naturally you won't announce if you're attacking Bish or Nits. I suspect you'll go the route with the least resistance as usual. Which means you'll be attacking the Knights. :old:

Well for everyone who joined up or attacked I look forward to running these missions every week on tuesday night at around 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. Central Daylight time. As to some of the concerns about who we run the mission against, there are a lot of factors that end up in the decision making process. The primary factor usually has to do with the attention span of the players that are willing to join up with this type of mission. A lot of people get on and are looking for that "instant gratification," of getting into the action quick. Setting up a mission like this takes so much planning and coordination with my squad and the other squads that are available for the evening that usually we are dealing with some sort of time constraint. I usually get on early in the day and do the time calculations depending on when Skuzzy sets up the arena. The arena sunsets at 18:14 arena time everyday in the arena and so I have to calculate and calibrate that time for my mission launch time of around 7 or 8 p.m. So I post the mission about 8 - 10 hours ahead of time so that everyone has a chance to see when its gonna launch game time. I always use a bogus airfield and get the mission ready to roll so that at the last minute I can update the launch field so as to minimize the amount of time available for spies to scramble an intercept before we get up to altitude. This week we happened to run against the knights and unfortunately even by only changing the launch field 5 min prior to launch we were walloped by many fw-190's from the I/JG11 at around 15k well before we had a chance to rendezvous with our primary escort mission and ultimately the remaining group was shredded by 163's over the target. The choice of bomber was less than optimal also seeing as we changed up the formula to use the Lancaster III as opposed to our normal b-17g hoping to maximize the damage because the bomber turnout was much lower than the preceding week. I believe we only had 11 buff pilots turn out as opposed to the 40 that started with us the week before. So the change this week will be that we will be at our target altitude well before enemy airspace penetration and hopefully we will have enough adequate fighter escorts to help aid us successful target prosecution.

You attack Knights for the very reason Uptown mentioned. You could have just admitted it with silence, rather with a paragraph trying to cover up that fact.
-
HUH? Least resistance? What does that imply? Knights wont up to defend strats and bish will? We have flown against both sides and resistance has been great at times and mimimal at times. I dont think Swoops is obligated to inform the whole arena what side we attack and since its his mission its his choice based on best available info at the time.
Not to mention the fact that bombing the strat is only one part of the objective. The other part is to land damage and kills. This takes a lot of group interaction to fly in formation to protect each other and coordinate little friends to protect bombers. This type of teamwork was what made us switch sides to Rooks from Knights in January. Nothing against Knights as a whole. Theres a lot of good guys there that we miss. But there are also a lots of folks only interested in the furball aspect of the game. I cant speak for Bish side not having flown there.
If opposing sides worked together as large squad instead of as individuals it would be very difficult to accomplish what we have in previous missions. I think everyone on Rook side flying Swoops missions agree these missions are not only fun but a great training tool as well for attackers and defenders. But it goes withour saying its your money spend it as you wish. As for me "Swoops for President".

You just proved my point. You hopped sides for numbers and knowing that the Knights won't put a mass effort to stop it. That in itself is the definition of path to least resistance.
I called it. I was right, and next week or month will be the same thing. If ya can't beat em'..join em'.

Yes, that is exactly what the "least resistance" is. Also, dropping Radar does absolutely nothing. Most players KNOW where the fights are prior to it being dropped. But while 50 rooks are cruising at 30k+, I'd rather attack a base. Most Knights I would also say, feel this way.
Remember that without furballers, base takers wouldn't get their precious bases.
-
hey i like those attacks, maybe it could be a "tag your it" kind of thing or rotate weekly to the side you bombed the last time, yes it would be more predictable as to who you attack, however it would spread the burden a bit and imo there is a benefit to predictability i.e. a bigger party on both sides ...
-
Uptown one thing you proved was that you cant interpret what is written. Another is you have failed your Vulcan mind probe class. To be very clear My squad did not switch side for numbers sake. We switched sides due to individualistic furball issues with a large percentage of the Knight players which we tried to change. It was quickly obvious that was not going to happen. What you also fail to realize that even though it appears that Rooks have an advantage in numbers is negated by ENY. Swoops this my final post on this thread concerning this aspect. Sorry it was not my intent to hijack it.

Gentelmen, <S>. No one is making anyone fly with this group or against it. It is very easy to ignore this mission if you would not want to be involved. This "event" adds something to AH. Those of you with constant negativity take away something from AH. A civil reply if you do not like this type of gameplay would be "I choose not to participate", or "its not my thing, I'll pass".
These gentelmen that coordinate this work hard, spend alot of their time preparing, then spend a good amount of time climbing then flying to their target. If you wish to have a chance at intercepting them then you too must prepare, analyze, then climb to a position that may give you an effective chance to thwart their mission and maybe get a kill or 2. Our little squad (II/JG27) considers this a treat, a break from the "normal" play and a welcome opportunity to hone our skills, improve our coordination and learn what we can, to take to the "special events" available in AH.
It has been my pleasure to fly against the "Tuesday Night Mission", I really really want to escort them soon.
Thank you

Amazing how opinions work eh? You're the only one mentioning something not related to AH.
You enjoy flying at 30k+, I don't. That's a fact, not opinion. I'm allowed to CIVILLY (and I have been) post that fact, because I broke none of HTC's Forum Posting Rules that are stickied.
However, you are trying to skate around Rule #5 by saying "who should post and when not to post". If you want to play the semantics game Zoney, I'm game.

You do realize that the B-25H is absolutey one of the worst planes to up to take out bombers, right? Wait...what am I thinking...of course you don't.
The B-25H is rather slow and the only bombers they can have any sort of chance at catching is the Lancaster (B-25H is only barely faster than the Lancaster) and Ju88 (depending on the altitude). Hell, the Boston will leave the B-25H in the dust. If you're using a B-25H to hunt buffs, you're using a plane that is worthless in that role.
ack-ack

Sir, <S>. Many times, an example is used to illustrate a point that is not necessarily related to the original subject. This will sometimes allow a clearer picture to be formed, many times using a simpler example.
I have not suggested, "who should post and when not to post". Pardon me please if I am mistaken but you seem to be upset or annoyed from the "Tuesday Night Mission".
-
Well now aren't we having fun. Lets hear it for II/JG27. Yes we are strange creatures that roam the skies at nose bleed altitudes. But it does give us time to contemplate the universe, catch a nap and just Irk the devil out of those who hate altitude monkeys. No I won't change my ways and am glad you like starting from the disadvantage. If we are on the same side then let me know so I can push you down some company and I will provide top cover for you.
The Tuesday night events with the massive bomber attacks are something I enjoy. It reminds me of the S3 in WarBirds when they had large allied bomber strikes with escorts. It was nice to figure out how to draw away the fighter escort so the bombers could be engaged at a time and place of our choosing. And yes the Bf 109K-4 or TA-152. are two excellent planes for intercepting buff.
Let loose the dogs of war.

Not at all. I refuse to waste time climbing to the altitude and would rather attack Rook bases while this is going on.

Besides Karaya's LA-7 doesn't have the fuel or handling capabilities to engage us at altitude.
I suspect you'll go the route with the least resistance as usual.
You attack rook bases with the same logic Uptown used. You could have just admitted it with silence, rather than making a million posts trying to cover up that fact.

Each country makes use of "hoarde missions" against one another so no country is either immune nor faultless.
It is up to each country to be observant of the map and see missons IB to their bases in question, whether NOE or with darbar(s).
Also, please pay no mind whatsoever to those who post to grief and anger you on this issue (even though if is a often little enforced board violation) and make use of the ignore user feature. This is a fantastic feature that makes griefer's posts to be wonderfuly ignored. I thank the power's that be each day for this feature.
If a base starts to blinks with no explination or you see a giant radar darbar then it is up to the defending country to up to defend.
My best regards to you and those of your squad in regards to defense.
Good luck and good hunting!
