Title: Anyone got a spare laptop HDD?

Hey, I just scored on a free laptop from school today, but the HDD is bad, do any of you guys have any extra ones you'd mind lending me?

Looks IDE, but it says AT Disc Drive and dosen't indicate whether it IS ide or not.

What model of laptop is it, you can usually find out by the make/model.

It's an HP pavilion zd8000 .

I think I have a couple IDE drives from older laptops, if you can make sure its IDE. They aren't anything special...probably 40-60Gbs max.

I am not totally sure if it's IDE or not. my desktop IDE wire would not plug into it, and another one I had but didnt know what it was for would not fit either. I just looked on a site for parts for this laptop, and it says the HDDs are IDE.

you need an adapter to use a desktop 40 pin ide cable on a 44 pin laptop HD .  The laptop supplys power to the hard drive with the 4 extra pins threw the adapter you took off to expose the pin's .... if that makes any sense lol.
