Worth looking at by anyone planning on skinning WW1 a/c.  Shows a few interpretations of what the actual colors were:

This thread at the aerodrome form has a lot of good information as well. It's very detailed with a lot of good information about color codes and RGB values.

Being new to skinning one of the important aspects that's discussed for me is, getting your monitor properly calibrated to get the correct color representations.
