After a month of sitting in Camp Buehring Kuwait, I finally made it to Iraq. For those of you who know Buehring, you know how uncool it is to spend any more time then one has to.
So, my friends, as soon as I can get my controllers, I will be up in the cartoon skies of Aces High. If I am warpy let me know and I will relog but the chances are it will not fix the problem (ran a ping plotter today and was averaging about 769 ms).
Thanks for all the well wishes when I left, on of the many reasons I love this community and this game.

ah i remember camp boring. where in iraq are u?

Currently I am at COB Adder (Talill Air base formerly) with the possibility of moving down to Camp Bucca (God I should be so lucky).

Yes fun and games in the military. The military since of humor never fails to amuse me. It falls under the sadist masochistic fetishes. They are the giver and you are the receiver. Well you are in my families prayers and always remember don't let them know you are enjoying yourself or they might send you home. Heaven forbid you enjoy yourself. Thank you for your service.

Well :salute and stay safe. We need you here back in the states alive and well. Don't forget if they say duck kiss the pavement, no seriously I mean KISS the pavement.
On a serious note .. Thanks for what you are sacrificing to be where you are.

Stay safe troop. Give the whole country the finger for me. I left some of my leg over there. If you find it, let me know & PM you my address. :)

Hey H-2 and H-4 Diamondback are both really good bases to go to. H-2 diamondback has an R/C car track with 7 jumps and a smooth oval, it also has a Great PX, and the Defac is great, the guy who runs it takes care in the prep of the food and it is not like the rest of the Cardboard food in them. There is a less that 2 hour response time to any thing like A/C service calls, and it has the Ice plant on it. H-2,H-4 also have the water supply for the rest of the Northern Iraq area. I spent almost 5 years in the Northern Iraq area, and the new base in Erbil is SWEET, I know I built it. If you get a chance you should see if you can get the video of the "Bucca Bad girls", and the older one 172BSB gone wild.

3.5 months til redeploy to the state xD. Meaning 3.5 months til AH again! I have internet over here but it's really really too laggy to play =/. Trust me you can't really play AH w/ 700 ms! Time to order some other aviation games while waiting xD. I think you got lucky on where you staying though. I remember when I first got here, the first 2 months we were cutting cardboard to use as plate. It was always cold cut=/ <-- fear balony sandwiches still :lol
-
Keep safe out there Tom!
I only had to spend 5 days at Buehring and that sucked pretty bad. Would have loved to get back there once I was in Baghdad though. It was just about this time of year when I went through there too.
Do they still have hesco barriers around the starbucks? It's one of my most comical and cherished pictures.
Keep your head down.

Having done 24 years in th USAF, our idea of roughing it is a motel 6 with basic cable.

Yes I thought it was funny too. I think the funniest thing I saw was the Air Force walking around in Amber status because Kuwait was so dangerous...
I do not mean to take away from the Air Force, I love their CAS, that A-10 is a beautiful thing when you need help but some times they go just a bit overboard.
I cannot say much I keep misspelling Tallil (finally got it right there).
Yenny: I was able to play last time I was over here (and I did have the 700 - 1200 pings). It takes a bit to get used to but it does help a little. I learned how to better anticipate my opponents moves because of it. I think the funniest thing I saw was in a fight with a niki and he suddenly departed the fight. I thought "Great he is dead now". Little did I know I was missing a wing, just took a few seconds to register on my computer. Lol.
<S> all of you who responded and <S>ed me. One of the many reasons I love this community and will never leave it... (sorry to those of you I annoy :P )

At CP liberty they have "T" walls around Popeye's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and the important one "Cinnabun". Subway is setting out in the open though.

Thats how it was for my unit that last deployment. They told me they had to build cobs and fobs for their entire battalion. HESCO walls are your friend I suppose.
Good luck Tom stay safe :salute
-
apparently 2009-2010 we still do that xD T-walls and Hesco !

Stay Safe and we all thank you for your service to this country.

Hey Tom, Maybe I missed it but I would like to know what you do over there. (MOS) Get home safe my friend and I hope you can figure out a way to fly with your buddies while you are deployed. If it wasn't for guys like you we wouldn't have a country to play Aces High in.

Condor my MOS Is 25C, one of them commo pukes, just think of me as a Uniform and you will know what I do.
Yenny, there is a Starbucks over by dfac 2 on camp buehring. Starbucks is against the war so they will not put one in Iraq but I guess it is okay for them to bilk the Soldiers in Kuwait. Ah political correctness run a muck.
I did get over to the pizza inn. Was the first time I went there in three rotations through Buehring.
-
Green Beans is way better anyway. Their fruit smoothie things will start hitting the spot any time now as it starts to get even warmer.
If starbucks wouldn't go into Iraq but would still hang out in theater to make a buck then I have one more reason why I never bring them any of my money.
I seem to remember a Chinese restaurant at Beuhring that was actually really good. It was in one of the food/MWR areas. I bet it's still there. If it is, try the orange chicken!

"(sorry to those of you I annoy Neener! Neener! )"

I lived in Kuwait most of my life, and went back three years ago. When I was there, many American soldiers in the cafe's all around.
Can you guys travel out to the city when your in that camp, or do you need a special pass every time you do?
-
:salute Stay safe.

we are pretty limited on being able to get out of the compounds I am not sure what the rules are there. I was there in a transitional state and had different rules
