Was having a discussion with Sancho when this question came up :
"How do you guys train ?(other than MA furball)".
I was a bit at loss when that question came up, All my squaddies are hotshots & prolly don't need no training anymore, but I intend to push this thought back to my CO.
(Came back 2 weeks ago, am still a "pushover" in the MA, and am trying to change that :D)
So, my question is: How do you guys TRAIN ?
Thx in advance.

Saw,
We were taking one squad night a month and going to the H2H. We have worked on several things like dive bombing, level bombing, rockets, killing ack, etc. And for some fun, some air to air teams, or free for all is a good time.
There are some good H2H terrains for practice out there. Everything from elevated fields for quick high alt fights, to ground targets, boats, GVs...
It can be a fun change, and a good chance to bring along someone who may not have an account yet since it's free in H2H.

332nd Flying Mongrels have a training time set up once a week. We'll either meet in the TA & work on basics like jabo bombing, wingman tatics, etc. Or we may go to the CT and do a bomber mission. I really like the CT sessions as a walkthrough for friday nights TOD.
Right now we are working on getting used to the Japanese planes in preperation for the next TOD.

The BKs only try to steal my kills that is their training. They take their training very seriously.

Well they are just following along with the rest of the arena :) Its hjumorous to watch 3 friendlies following a burning wreck to the ground..trying to get as many rounds in it as possibel so they get the kill. Pretty common phenomenon.
Train? we just keep flying, shooting, dieing and learning.

We dig dirt, fill it with rocks, slap up some woods and metal, and get our selves a steam engine.

Was having a discussion with Sancho when this question came up ...
The Dik never thanked me for a free month of AH I bought him. That explains it.
What a tool.

Let's see? We go to the TA every week and, since we rotate battle leadership on a daily basis, whomever is in charge that day is supposed to plan something to practice e.g. bounces, slowing down to get in the saddle, evasive tactics etc. etc. Does it work? Can't say that it does consistently but based on personal experience as a CFI I will tell you that practice does make perfect. Problem is that training is work and the vast majority of hotshots in here don't come in here to work. Only if you can come up with a specific syllabus and appropriate lesson plans will we ever see the true benefit of practice. One additional nicety would be a training arena with air starts so that we can get more training in the alotted time. My personal feeling is that the best way is to set up a basic curriculum to teach the chosen airplane, yes, I would propose only flying one airplane for extended periods of time. Know everything about the airplane and I mean memorize speeds, rate of climb, cornering speed, rates of turn, climb, red line speeds just the same as though you were in actual basic flight training and then go out an put it into proactice with an experience flight leader. I propose that with a rigid training curriculum even the hottest of hotshots would greatly improve and needless to say the overall quality of game play would improve for those that train. Others will serve as additional training drones.

We fly low on the MA to practice anti-bounce and defensice ACM and how to manage our E...
We fly high in the MA to practice how to bounce and how to royally screw up our E...
And we HO each and every n1k we find. Some things just have to be done outta principle.
But mostly, we die... a lot :D :D

i think the assassins just practice hunting down fdbs.

This is a TAS secret that no one outside of the squad knows, and I will probably get shot for revealing it.
Rude gives us a pep talk and we get a warm and fuzzy and then we do great. Simple, right? :)
Sometimes it's a critique, and sometimes it's a verbal example. No one does it better!
The hard part is the test afterwards.
