Went for a ride on the B-17 for work. Say it with me... "perks of the job." Most of the shots are mine. We got the seats in the cockpit for take off and landing, pretty good if you ask me. I gotta say, I was amazed at how smooth of a ride it was. I didn't even really notice when we took off, and the landing was softer than anything I've ever felt in a commercial jet. In the opening shot of the story, you might notice that I did my best to totally rip off a scene from the Memphis Belle movie when they're starting up the engines. Enjoy.

I'd guess around 1,000-2,000 AGL. After talking to the pilot for a while he mentioned that they try to navigate visually as much as possible. Even when flying from one city to the next they just stay low and follow landmarks.

Awesome pics, thanks for sharing!
I was able to ride in "Sentimental Journey", a B17 with the Confederate AF (now the Commemorative AF). It was an experience I'll never forget.

Funny you mention that. The Sentimental Journey was in my area about 6 months ago. I went to cover it with the plan being to go up for a flight but that sorta fell apart and I only got shots of it on the ground. So when I heard that the Liberty Belle was coming to town, there was no way I was going to miss out on a flight.
Here's the Sentimental Journey story.
