A lot of money in kids football. Living in Ohio & watching some of these games with several thousand in attendance at every home game at $6-$10 per person it looks to me to be quite lucrative.
-
Nothing like texas high school football, great stuff to watch. PNG(port neches grove) brings around 5-10,000 to away games that I have been told.
-
my HS will typically gets 10-20k every game and i live just north of Pittsburgh. Actually Joe Namath went to my HS... We use Geneva College's stadium which was just redone last year and it was over 10mil i think for the whole thing... the only reason why it was redone was for us... HS football is really big in PA as well...

Well I guess if they have the money to waste like that. Where I live we just let 200+ teachers go because the school system lost so much money from the state for it's budget. But at least we have football! The City of Martinsville is going to have to cut law enforcement and fire fighters but they're pumping some money into our great local football team. I'm sure those people who's houses burn down or get beaten silly will understand the importance of football.
I'm sorry for the negative feedback, it's just I live in an area where the unemployment rate is almost 22% (for almost 5 years strong) and our kids suffer with poor education due to crowded classes and work load.

What you said is not negative. you speak the truth and a dam shame that some-meanless-thing are more important than others. It will catch up to them sooner or later.
You must be in Michigan?

$59 million on local amateur high school sports...wow I'm not even sure where you could possibly begin on justifying something like that- its like they're playing on mars the distance it would be in relation to the importance on something like that here compared to there

Southwest Virginia, near Martinsville. Currently at 21.4%, we've been the highest in the state for almost 10 years strong.

Only $60mil? Cheap-skates. There's 2 $80mil+ high school stadiums within 10 miles of me.

Yeah, I know they're cutting the Mustangs' money also. One of my best friends and head coach here at Bluestone is one of the assistant coaches there. I know they cut some of they're money out as well and don't know if they'll have the team after this year, it's a shame.

"OK, That is going a bit to far to spend on one."
<shrug> It's their money.

they're putting astroturf in at cherokee high in nj.
i forget the price, but it's friggin ridiculous. no need for it.

No point in this except to drag this board into Jerry Springer territory. You do not like the way the state of Texas spends its money or how the cities spend it, then move here and vote. Otherwise, it is none of your concern.
