Title: Dog stories
Post by: greens on April 16, 2010, 01:39:16 PM
this one time at bandcamp!... lol i jk. when i was in 5th grade about yayy high at fishcamp there was this big brown bear about 1/2 mile from camp causing a ruckus with my dog he was constantly trying to bite the bears ear , just messing with it not even barking at it. apparently my POPS forgot his 30-30 shells at home so all he had was a 12 gauge w birdshot only. the big bad bear came within 10 yards of our tent growling n snorting standing on his hindquarters looking for a fight. our fishcamp neighbors he had a 30-06 w scope and he started shooting at the bear from about a mile away nearly hitting my darn dog. the bear started running way from our camp and my dog still messing w the bears ear, and bullets splashing near him and me in chase close behind the dog. all that time my mom was laughing at me chasing a dog n bear lol. eventually the bear went his own direction across the river away from my nagging dog. stupid dog almost got us killed, all he can do after everything calmed down was laydown and smile at us with a big grin on his face like he was saying 'dam that was fun".

Got one story.  Happened a long time ago and it wasn't my dog.

I went on a call with a police officer for a dog complaint.  It was part of my field training as a new police officer.  This is also important, the officer was a veteran cop.  6'4" tall, and the size of a door.  Big guy.  To protect the innocent, we'll call him Officer Smith.  Officer Smith and I arrive at the residence of the suspected dog owner.  It was a little grey haired old lady that had three (3) chihuahuas.  Their names were "Twinkie, Winkie, and Dinkie."

As Officer Smith was talking to the little old lady in the kitchen, I was standing in the living room area.  Dinkie decided that my boot was an enemy of the state and proceeded to bit my ankle.  So here I am, trying not to kick this little dog into the next room.  Dinkie went to town.  Growling and knawing on my boot.  The noise caught the attention of the little old lady who came in the living room to see me standing there with this "help me" plea on my face.  The little old lady started to yell.  "Dinkie stop that!  Dinkie, bad boy!  Dinkie, Dinkie, Dinkie!"  I look into the kitchen and see Officer Smith doubled over, laughing his butt off.  I was finally saved by Officer Smith and the little old lady from the wrath of Dinkie.  After that call, I was then known throughout the town as Officer Dinkie.

Officer Smith has since retired and we meet up from time to time for a beer.  Ironically, we always have a toast to Dinkie, the courageous chihuahua with the heart of a lion.  So here's to you Dinkie.  Thanks for the start of memorable career.

Here's mine:

In my early 20's I had a white German Shepard, Jesse.  I shared a small house with a high school friend who had a Great Dane and a Doberman.  We happened to be taking care of another German Shepard and another Doberman that belonged to friends of ours who were on a vacation.  All of the dogs were females.

Jess stayed in my room at night, the Doberman stayed in my friend's room, the two guests stayed on the main floor and Mable, the other Dane lived in the basement with her litter of six puppies.  Needless to say, even though we lived in inner Minneapolis, we never locked the doors.

So one morning my friend had left for work and took his Doberman with him.  I was still in bed.  A little while later I heard a bark from somewhere lower in the house and Jess took off down the stairs with me right behind her trying to get dressed as I went down the stairs.

I hooked a right at the bottom of the stairs as the barking and growling intensified, through the living room and kitchen and as I turned right again to head toward the basement there was Jesse and the guest Shepard and Doberman on the landing three steps down where the back door was, Mable at the bottom, and the gas meter man pinned to the wall halfway between looking like he was going to drop a load.

He never did read the meter.  After that he just hung a card on the door for us to go read the meter ourselves.  I wonder if he ever just walked into an open house again.   :rofl

i have a story but its not a dog story......its a cat story...a MEAN cat story!

I got this cute lil fluffy kitten when he was really young, he was a gun smoke gray color so I named him "smokey". My old cat had died because he got attacked by a stray cat in the neighborhood and got sick from it. so with smokey i trained him to go outside on a leash. Everyone thought it was funny to mess with him, he was really playful but he would get mean! as he got older, smokey developed the attitude of a tiger. My older sister lived behind my parents and came walking through the back yard one day on the way to their house, smokey was sleepin outside on his leash and she stomped on the ground next to him, it scared the hell out of him...she continued her path to our parents house. after staying for a lil bit, she went to return home, as she walked past smokey, she bent down to pet him, he attacked her, putting puncture wounds in her arms and hands. hearing her screams for help, i went running out the house and got smokey under control. needless to say, my parents house insurance paid for her doctor bills. smokey used to like to go in my parents garage with them on his leash while they were cleaning it out, they would tie him up and he would just chill and watch them. my older sister and middle brother showed up and went in there, my middle bro wasn't allowed in the garage cuz that kid would get into EVERYTHING. we all had went in the house and came back out. my dad walked into the garage and seen my bro coward in the corner and smokey laying in front of him. he was cryin. my dad asked him what his problem was and he said smokey wouldnt let him out of the corner, my dad replied "bs! now get out my garage!". Lewis stood up and went to jump over smokey, just as he did that, smokey jumped up and snagged his nails in his pant leg. growlin like a grizzly bear. Lewis had attempted to escape the corner a few more times and each time, smokey would stop him. finally my dad (laughin his butt off) picked smokey up and took him in the house so that lewis could come out the corner of the garage.

i miss that old cat, he ended up disappearing one day when he got off his leash, not quite sure what happened to him. he and my dog "reefer" loved playing together, they would chase each other thru the house. he was a cool cat, not a normal cat at all.

I think you need a new in game handle and of course, it's got to be "Dinkie".

About four years ago, my family had two dogs. One was a 12 year old female chocolate lab named Coco who has since passed away. The other was a 2 year old male half beagle/half rat terrier named T.J. we picked up as a stray. We kept the two dogs out in the garage where they slept in a closet during the winter months. Since T.J. is a small dog without much fur for insulation, we got him a flamboyantly bright yellow and blue wool sweater. When he had this thing on he just looked so pitiful and ashamed: had his tail tucked, head bowed low to the ground and just slunked around trying not to be seen.
We came home one night and he greeted us cheerfully at the car, his sweater no where to be seen. We looked around but could not find it, but we all laughed that he must have taken that thing off and hid it somewhere. A couple weeks later, we came home and this time Coco greets us at the car with the sweater all covered in dirt and faded out. She couldn't wait for us to get home to show us what she had found, it was hilarious. Of course TJ was no where to be found. He had buried that thing and didn't want any part of it.  :rofl
