Well we have the loadout section for planes what about adding a skin loadout area? Player made as well as ones made by HTC. But the player added ones would have to be approved by HTC first and uploaded to the server. Would give those the chance to fly historically painted AC that their squad represents.
And to maybe even stretch it further to identify certain squads in the air since we don't have name tags on. Visiual ID by the planes would be awesome. Being able to make individual markings for each member in a squad. I know it is asking a lot but just think seeing Zemke's 47's in their real color's!
Ok so to break it down into something readable, group art for certain planes that can be used only by that group. Meaning they have to make it in order to use it. Individuals can also make their own personal skins within that group to give a certain uniquenesss to it all. I think this would work out I don't want to see the non historical groups getting there own bob marleyesque paint schemes for it would ruin the affect of this. Any comments are welcomed on this one.

Hmm I wonder how long it will take for someone to load all of the plane skins. And then it will be just like squad emblems, people were begging for it and now that we have it - how many emblems have you seen on enemy planes?

I've never seen an emblem on a plane, because they're so small I can't make them out at a distance of more than 50 yards.
However, there are a LOT of emblems in my AH folder.
I think custom skins would be EXTREMELY popular. Still, the downloads are a problem.
Perhaps make them optional?

I think this would be very cool. You could also make some of the homemade skins available to ALL players. With bombers this would be especially nice because at least you can go to the F3 external view and get to look at your plane once in a while.
-
JAB,
I really don't see any urgency in letting people have their own camos. But when and if the options comes out, don't be surprised if you get shot down by an enemy you don't see - it will be me in the plane painted into my new custom made super uber invisible camo (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

MX22, that is why the camo's would have to be approved before hand by HTC, then uploaded to their server. This would stop the hack skins and such. I think for individuals not in groups have multiple skins for AC they could choose from. Once again made by customers but approved b HTC first.
If it is regulated it will work, I know the squad emblem is in there but come on can we see it? Nope only in F3 in a bomber, having a plane detailed in color would better identify your adversary then that stinkin emblem (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I hope this makes a little more sense. And another thing the download size for the skins would be rather small, most being under 50K max being 100K. Once again it could be optional.

you are cheap ammo (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Sturm,
I think HTC has a lot of work on their hands even without checking skins submitted by players. It doesn't sounds like a lot of work, but when you combine things together, it's small things like that that make you stay late.
With that said I have nothing against skins...

we had personal paint in redbaron and when you flew into a group of 5 or more who all had different custom paint your fps was so bad it was like watching a slide show.
-
Ah yes the slide show, well with most new schemes you would not see an impact on FPS. Would just be replacing the original color with a custom. And if you look at some in AH allreayd htey are quite the colorful. Created skins in CFS and SDOE. Would love to see the PSS colors for base defense (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) here is what they would look like not a full pic but good enough. Skins has been brought up so many times that you would think HTC would actually get the massage that some people out there think it might be a good idea........
-
It's not the issue of some people liking it or not. It's the issue if the most people who play AH and HTC as a producer think it's worth of introducing, instead of new planes or any other updates. And I bet, player configured skins are far from their priority lists, as it is on mine. Rather have new planes to fly in, then paint the old once...

Wobble, we knew that after it was thought of at least 10 years back . Just because some thinks it's a good idea dosn't make it so.

Yes it is (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
It's Gabresky's last flight of WW2, just before his BEAUUUUUUUTIFULL aircraft strikes the propeller on the ground trying to have 1 more kill.
He was supposed to go back home to get married, at the train station he learned there was a mission planed, he came back to fly it. He got a bit greedy to add some more kills to his score board. After the prop strike, he went ditching in a nearby field and became a POW.
Hehehe, I feel like grand'pa, keep telling the same story over and over again....sorry (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I know I have posted this comment before too.
I don't mind admitting I am an ex-AW3 point & shooter. Not in the same league however in its day it did satisfy some primal urges. One aspect I do miss is not only could you change plane skins on a whim, you could change the terrain just as easy. So what if everyone else sees the green grass of home, if you wanted dessert, you got to see the sand of North Africa, the snow of the Eastern Front, hell the craters of the lunar surface if so desired. I suppose its all in how the 2 flight sims are constructed. I suppose new plane development and bug fixes are most important but you gotta give people diversity and easy control of that diversity.
KEEP'EM FLY'IN!
