Title: Need some help from the car stereo guys
Post by: Rondar on April 20, 2010, 11:44:48 AM
Naw, I dont need 10,000 watt subs.  I would like to buy a new radio for my tractor.  Now beings I live out in the boonies and not a station within 50 miles and more like 100, I need great fm sensitivity.

I very rarely play cd's but would like to look into hd radio if it will work where I live.  Also, front usb and aux jack will be a must this time, so I can use a thumbdrive.  The radio will mount towards the ceiling so I cannot physically use a dvd receiver as there would be no room for the screen to popup, and dont think there is room for a double din size either.

Also not sure about bluetooth for phone, as ambient background noise is constantly high.  I have a little xm roadie radio so dont need xm in the radio, but that is why I wanted the front aux jack so I can plug it in or my little netbook for audio.

I currently have about a 7 year old cheap pioneer supertunerIII in there.  Any suggestions for a new cd/receiver that will do great on fm or maybe hd radio?  Brand is not important, just good quality.  As for price, I would like to keep it in the 200 dollar range but will entertain suggestions close to that mark.

Also, might replace the whip antenna on the tractor.  It mounts on the side of the cab, so anybody have antenna ideas?

Thanks very much.  You guys always pull through for people in need here in AH.

Honestly

Get yourself an average radio cd player set up and the do yourself a favor and get XM radio or sirius satellite radio.

You will be glad you did and feel lost without it.

Yeah I suggest that you look into getting satellite radio as well, no worries about not being able to pull in FM radio signals that way.

Another thing to think about is if its going to get any weather on it, if so, consider a marine stereo. I fitted one to a bike when I was young and stupid and it lasted for as long as I had the bike which was four years kept outside.

I'm sure that it's a tractor with a cab.
