I see the periscope was modeled ...so where is the rear gun cannon which completes the package. I know the bird is fast but NO REAR GUN! Come on fellow LW no it alls..tell me why we have no rear gun on this variant.
-
Well supposidly it was removed most of the time due to weight constraints...plus it was almost useless with the periscope aiming system..
As to why they even bothered putting the scope when never intending to have the guns at all..youve got me..
???

The Periscope was also used as the bomb-aimer sight for shallow dive bombing.

Well it doesent work that way in Ah is any way...the question still stands..why they add it?
-
And the pericope was used for check 6 and help evasive maneuvers. Sure rear firing mg151/20s should be an option like IRL.
-
...Not to mention wanna be U boat commanders...
So what if aiming would be less than acurate. I was nailed by a P47 level flight. As I slowly crept away from him he patiently got a single ping from 1K out.
That was all it took. Now if I had those 20mm's firing aimlessly he may have backed off a bit.
-
There is some speculation that these 20mm 151's were never fitted to production models.
-
Originally, we were going to have the periscope work, but I had a lot of trouble getting it to work. So we ditched it. However, it may turn up one of these days.

Why would we need a periscope when we currently have a panoramic outside-the-airplane F3 view?

I hope you guys can get it working. I'm pretty sure I could have scored a couple of kills if those guns were installed!
-
Yes please, what if we all chip in a buck and send it to Supperfly...Would that help...the checks in the mail (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

One possible view model would be to use the existing bomb site view except have it looking behind you. I would not want the plane to go into auto---autopilot though. This way a pilot could make minor adjustments to the firing position due to the fact the cannons were fixed postion. Again, these guns were not terribly accurate however they would be used as a last defensive measure.
