I'm stuck between the PS3 Slim 120GB, and the Xbox360 Arcade.
I've had several bad experiences w/ Microsoft products. :frown:
&
Good experiences w/ Sony products, I still have my PSP 1000 I bought when it first came out. :)
The reason I hesitate to get a PS3, is that my friend from XboxLive, who I've known sense i was little and he moved to North Carolina is going to boot camp to become a Marine. We usually have awesome times playing XboxLive with each other.
I can't decide, and I don't have the money to buy both, so i come to you forum, what's your opinion?
Should i wait to see if new Xbox is coming, or something else is coming out of the blue, I don't know... PS3, Xbox360, or wait for something you KNOW is coming out soon?
Thanks

Gaming consoles don't generally get released until the fall and IIRC there isn't anything slated by the big 3 until at least 2011 (Fall)

Darn! Microsoft said something about Project Natal due Fall of 2010, what's going on! :furious

Having never played a PS3, I wouldn't be able to tell you which is better.
I have however had mostly great experiences online and made plenty of friends on Xbox Live.
I hear the PS3 has a better selection of games though. (MGS3, MaG, etc.)
-
The only thing about Xbox I don't like is that they make you pay to use Xbox live, the other 2 big gaming consoles give you that feature for free.
Now the PS3 does have a new motion controller coming out that is like the Wii, it's called Playstation Move & works with the PS3, it's coming out it says this holiday 2010, so I'd go with the PS3 Here's a link to a story about it.

It's called PC. ;)

Hm, I'd go with the PS3, mostly for a wider selection of games, a more ergonomic controller design, and free online capabilities.
Ha! I see you've finally found a way to put a stop to people stealing your avatar, Spikes :lol

I have an xbox, i like it, sometimes wonder if the ps3 would be better...
but most importantly dont buy a wii

PS3 is 100x times better. The X-box is a piece of ****. They always break and are un reliable. Not mention it means no God of War 3 (one of the best games ever made) also free internet and halo sucks so that's not a reason to get an X-box. I have had this PS3 since release, never had one problem. Yet 80% of the people that bought X-Box had it break within 2 years. Some melted the first week.

Yeah I can't tell you how many people I've heard of having troubles with there Xbox breaking down, but I've never heard of anyone having troubles with a PS3.

Exactly, I have been using PlayStations since PS1. Never had ONE break. Tons of X-box hve problems. Like the "red ring of death" that I have had over 4 friends get within 2 years of buying an X-box http://www.stuffwelike.com/stuffwelike/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/red-ring-of-death.jpg

And about the NEW Xbox and or PS3. The release date from what ive been told isnt till like 2014.
Once again I highly suggest a PS3 for the durability, and free internet.

If you're going to get a PS3, make sure it's the slim version and not one of the older fat PS3s as those had issues with the blue-ray drive. If you're going to go the route of an Xbox360, you might want to wait a little bit as Microsoft is rumored to be releasing a 'slim' version sometime later this year with a new CPU/GPU combo that uses less power and more reliable.

-
Yeah thats another plus for getting a PS3, it doubles as a blue-ray player.
-

Maybe but... At least with a console you know the games you buy will work. I'm so tired of holding my breath with PC games wondering if my graphics card is compatable or whatever. Just to keep your PC up to speed requires enough money to buy a new console every few years...
-
Yeah I'd never buy a PC solely for gaming, it's a hell of a lot more expensive then a console, and like Sluggish said the games tend to come to PC last after coming out for consoles.

That's what i heard, but if this thing doesn't come out, I'd rather rub the $300 into MS face say, "**** you Microsucks!". Then I'd buy a PS3 and come back just to push it further into their face... :D
Heard it was going to be a 7% failure rate too, that completely kills the PS3 being the XboxLive fan boy that i am.

His point is that, even now they don't sell Fats anymore, but if i did find a fat and i wanted it for some reason, then i should be discouraged because there are the Slim kind which are newer and better for the price.

I understand. Just saying Ps3 is 200x better than X-box if you want something durable that will last a long time, and you don't have to pay internet.

No of course not, but you can do 100 more things on it than you can with a console...

Not saying that you will have problems with it but the blue-ray players used on the fat PS3s had issues, which may cause you some trouble. The leading issues with the fat PS3s are disk read errors which is a dirrect result of these bad blue-ray players. It is also the reason why the that brand of blue-ray players are not in the slim version.

My very first console...got one on my 5th birthday. Still have it too, packed up in a box in storage. Don't know if it works though but I know it did 10 years ago when I tried it last.

I have an XBox and i say the PS3 is better... Internet connections for gaming are FREE, faster, and controls are so much similar to the XBox that there IS no difference... the PS3 also will be able to withstand more high end graphics than the XBox and also will allow internet connection like a computer would for FB google and other websites and search engines and since Halo is done the XBox has every game the PS3 has that is worth playing at the moment except for maybe Mass Effect and the Forza series... PS3 beats XBox 360 at least for now...

I agree in everything you stated, except PS3 will still always be better. Btw, you seen the game red dead redemption and lost planet comming out in may? Both look amazing. Red Dead Redemption is a re make of Red Dead Revolver from the PS2. Basically your a cowboy and YOU pick how the story goes, you can be good or bad, have multiple ways to get more experience. Like bringing in criminal alive and not dead if your good. I have been waiting for Red Dead Redemption for years, I knew a sequel was gonna be release for Red Dead Revolver eventually.

I'm probably the sole person who prefers the 360 over the PS3. :) It's all about the controller for me -- I simply dislike the PS3 contoller and its feel, both the feel of the sticks and the ergonomics for my hands.
The $3/month for Xbox Live isn't a big deal to me; not after what we paid for hourly Air Warrior. Also, my experiences on the PS3 network in COD2 had a lot more cursing kids than I found on Xbox Live.
The BluRay player is nice, but does it does it do lossless audio decoding yet? Some reading says that the Slim version does this now, which is a nice improvement. That would be a big plus for the PS3 if you don't have a BluRay player yet.

I like the 360 controller better as well. Ive had my 360 going on 2 and a half years now with no problems :noid
The PS3 controller seems to small and fragile to me. Im always scared im gonna break it. And my triggers always stick. :furious

No, the softies don't want to make such a good console- they'll make the Xbox 180, and then 90, 45 and then hello infinite decimal sequence*!

Not for long. Sony is going to start charging like Microsoft does for Xbox LIVE, no date as to when it will start but it appears though that the pricing structure will be similiar to that of Xbox LIVE. Over the last holiday season, PSN users were asked to take a survey on what users will be willing to play for premium content. It may not be this year but it is definitely coming, Sony is losing on the opportunity to make a lot of money by not charging for premium content while they are seeing Microsoft bring on the money by the bag load.

No ack, they already said. They will have an OPTION to pay monthly, if you pay monthly you will get more demos, faster downloads, so forth. It is not required.

It's going to be virtually the same as how Xbox Live is set up. There will be premium content (just like XBox Live Gold Accounts) and free subscriptions (like the Xbox Live Silver accounts) and like XBox Live, it won't be required to have a premium subscription if you don't want to partake in the premium content. In the future, if you want to play multiplayer games on PSN (like MW2), you're going to have to pony up for a premium subscription, and if you don't then you don't have to pay. PSN Home will also most likely fall into the premium content as well in addition to the micro-transactions already in place.

My first Xbox 360 broke within a few months -- it was the green Halo version. So I returned it and got a regular Xbox 360.
That second Xbox 360 lasted nearly 3 years until I got a RRoD. I had one month left under warranty, so I sent it back to MS to be fixed.
They fixed it by sending me somebody else's refurbished Xbox 360 -- one that has a rattling CD-Rom! !@$!@$!#$!
If it didn't sit 15 feet away, and I didn't play with surround sound, I'd be really pissed.

The Xbox elites are great they don't ever break anymore. I like the way the x box controller feels in my hand it is much more solid and doesn't feel like a cheep piece of plastic like the PS3.

agreed. stick the PS3 with the XBox 360 controllers and some of the XBox only games and that would be perfect until the 720 comes out :aok

I might as well get a 360 then, if PS3 is going to charge for PSN then they can go to heck because I'm not paying for a cruddy online. Sense it's free, i don't mind the cruddy online but to pay for it? I'll stick to the Xbox360.

It really boils down to personal preference. I ended up getting both consoles because of some games that I want to play are exclusive to one or the other but I do find myself buying more games for the PS3 than I do for the Xbox360. Since I don't use the consoles to go online and play, I don't have to worry about paying for premium content.

Ive never had a cruddy connection on my PS3, sounds like your internet connection to me, I'm running mine wireless for now and still i connect and play with no lagging, when its hard wired it will be even a faster connection over wireless, Xbox doesn't have built in wireless like the PS3, my son has the Xbox 360 live, hardwired in his room, gets disconnected alot and would rather play on my PS3, lol but Dad's rules take over :devil

This isn't true, it was only rumors that they are going to start charging, anything you get for free on it now you'll always get free, they are thinking of adding content you'd pay for but it's like Hulu, here's an article about it.
