Title: Illuminated Ergonomic Keyboard with LCD display
Post by: oneway on April 20, 2010, 10:44:29 PM
I made the switch to split qwerty/ergo keyboards a few years back...use a MS 4000..

Its amazing that the hardware manufacturers seem to divorce gaming keyboards from the ergonomic form factor...

It sure would be nice if somebody made an ergo board with macro programming, back lit keys, lcd read out (for timers, assignments, vox etc)...

As far as I can tell the animal does not exist...

I find the Logitech G15 to be rather comfortable on the wrists but then I always hated the split MS ergo-crap keyboards.

Logitech also makes the G13 which is a nice addition to a keyboard.

I have a Saitek Cyborg keyboard...fully backlit with 12 extra programmable keys...I like it. The Logitech G19 is pretty good as well.

Have you considered something like this?

I need the split style of keyboard...ergo style...

I have a Logitech G15 V1 that is 3 years old but virtually brand new...I tried using it this last weekend (again) and I couldn't deal with itl...so back it went onto the shelf and the MS 4000 got plugged back in...

I must admit that the G19 looks awfully tempting to force myself back into the standard format keyboard...

I really want an LCD on the board that could be custom programmed that would have multiple timers, roster information, field and vox and GL lists, orders for each unit etc etc...for events...plus the ability to program complex macro's for in essence spaming information out to a team at the begining of the frame...such as number of lives, rules etc...

This is the keyboard I am using now...if it was back lit, had a 2-3 LCD's and 16 or so programmable keys it would be the perfect board in my opinion...thats right 2-3 LCD's displaying all manner of pertinent command type information for events...of course in color... :aok

I remember when they tried forcing those on us at school. Everyone who actually tried typing properly with them ended up with wrist and elbow pain along with tired upper backs after long sessions. Us geeks slowly and quietly replaced the new keyboards with the old style flat ones and not one complaint was heard. :D So, considering (at least around here) the younger demographic no longer types in the "proper" way with middle fingers on D and K and whatnot, I think the ergonomic side of gaming keyboards is a small factor to the manufacturers.
