I don't think that it's the fact that he's crying that people find funny, it's just the way he sounds while crying that people find funny.
-
lol i heard them talking about this on the radio this morning
-
i dont care who you are, that is funny as hell, i busted out laughing.
-
If you can separate the sounds from the situation I can see how it would be funny. However I can't find any humor whatsoever in watching a man's heart being tore out.

i didnt watch the show. why was he crying?
-
BP it was the show intervention, the guy was killing himself with drugs and it was tearing his family apart, if anyone has ever encountered this with there own family knows how heart wrenching that can be.

Intervention is a docu-drama on A&E.. It's a stupid-fest, really..
That dudes cry was great.. The sequential scratching is what did me in..
Busted a gut..

Point taken.
but......
Since I had not previously known this, the scene, taken out of context (as it most certainly has been), is Grade A piss pants material.
-
Problem with the internet....
people post crap without thinking... I see nothing funny in this at all!
-

Yep, that's me alright, just the thought of being shot down by a nit or bish makes me ashamed to be alive, lol, cause nit's and bish's are such terrible flyers. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
-
When I first watched this I thought the first guy talking was the one who was crying, then the second guy broke into his wail and I was like Whoa! I admit I laughed...then after I felt bad for the poor guy.
-
:rofl :rofl :rofl
-
It is funny in a way but I wasn't laughing. I knew even without watching that show I knew what was going on there. I've had to do that a couple of times in my life, and it's no fun. Very depressing.
-
chewbacca? :headscratch:

Agreed. In a way I'm happy for you guys who found this funny since obviously you have not been hurt enough yet to have any kind of compassion to that guy -but those days are in the future to you as they are to all of us.
What kind of funny sound a person lets out when his/her heart breaks. What a stupid thread.

Gotta love the moral high ground everyone takes and the comments of how it wouldn't be funny if it happened to you, wait til you get yours, etc. If you lost someone to addiction we share something in common so I empathize and offer my condolences but spare me your rhetoric.
I have never know anyone to get high, is a user, or became a junkie at the point of a gun. It's a conscious choice, just like vanilla or chocolate. Nobody MADE them do it. It also has to be a willing conscious choice on their part to want to stop using.
Intervention is for folks that weren't fully cognizant of or didn't really care enough about what the hell their friends/family have been doing the whole time and now, all-of-a-sudden, they finally notice how bad the habit has become. If you really cared all along, you would have noticed the changes and/or signs in your loved ones.
There are plenty of people out there that notice a problem arising and address it before a huge dramatic "intervention" is necessary. They are known as: vigilant parents, true friends, concerned employers, etc.
On top of it all, this clip was taken out of context from a reality TV show. Please....... again spare me. "Reality" TV?
Horse Apples.
Nothing more than the stale, over-dramatized garbage fostered by an unscrupulous media in an effort to boost ratings just like Jerry Springer, only in a different guise. Crap is still crap, even with a coat of varnish.
So, I ask.........
Who is worse, the folks on this forum getting a chuckle out of a youtube clip taken out of context, or the producers of the show itself for profiting from the misery and at the expense of another human being?
In either case, the folks on the show have agreed to air out their dirty laundry "in public" and have willingly subjected themselves to the scrutiny and criticism of others.
-Cheers
(unless you are on 12-step that is.........)

A-men, our society is full of rubber neckers slowing down to see the train wreck.

Yep, well said.
I laughed, does that mean I've never experienced someone abusing drugs? Of course not, and it doesn't mean I don't take drugs seriously.
But does that mean I have to be sad and upset whenever something even alludes to drug use? Not for me, this world is messed up, and I'm going to laugh whenever I get the opportunity.

A cheerful way to like at life, good choice! :aok

I dont see anything funny and it sure does not sound funny. If you can bypass human misery to the point that this is funny. G H us all.....

So you feel sorry for a person who by his/her own choice is addicted to something that can be avoided by the use of a small amount of common sense?
One fact of nature that cannot be avoided regardless of how far humans advance...only the strong survive...people like you see on that program are a burden to the planet...especially if they will not gratefully accept assistance in getting rid of the problem.

Are we, as humans, obliged to "fix" others misery even if it is self imposed?
Exploring the point even further, what if the miserable person in question does not want to take an active roll in their own recovery?
Am I obliged to feel sorry for them? Perhaps even take pity on them?
If you were to tell me that pissing on an electric fence would hurt but I did it anyway, over and over again, making excuses for why I did it each time, how long would it take you to get tired of my excuses and stop feeling sorry for me?
There are those in this world that have chosen a path of self-destruction.
The ones that realize the pitfalls of the road they have chosen to travel sincerely seek, and will eventually find, recovery.
There are others that just plain don't care and using is just a means to an end. They want destroy themselves. The "intervention" is not for them, it's for the folks that care about them. It's comparable to a funeral. The funeral is not for the benefit of the deceased, it is for the comfort of ones left behind and a way to offer their respect for someone they cared about/ It is the same most times with intervention. It's so folks can get that warm fuzzy feeling so they can shrug their shoulders and say, with honesty, "Hey, at least I tried". It is a coping mechanism so that they can live with their own conscience.
I grew up in Philly most of my life, and have been in a lot of other big cities. I have had countless encounters with homeless folks on the street, panhandling for money. Logic dictates that they don't even have money for food, correct? Rather than tossing money into their cup, I will offer every one I pass, the chance at a hot meal. I'm not callous to the point where I would refuse someone a meal. That's just downright cold.
My approach to them is as follows:
"Hey, I've only got plastic, but I'll take you to the diner across the street and square you away with some grub"
Most refuse the offer.
Why?
Because you can't spend a meal on your next fix
Why waste my time and money when I can use it to help someone that is sincere about recovery?
Finding this funny is by no means a measure of an individual's capacity for compassion. It is a spectacle. It's television, and there is a reason that it is also known as the "idiot box". It is for the entertainment value. You are seeing exactly what the programming director wants you to see.
