I've been thinking of developing a new hobby. Writing lyrics... When i was driving my paper route this morning these just came over me after hearing boulevard of broken dreams and i went from there. Critics allowed please :aok i'd actually like to expand this into a whole song...I'm not worried about putting the parts into order yet. I just want to see if i have something to work with and if it's even good... Even add to it if you guys want.
Why are you walking this road my friend,
Will it truly be worth it in the end?
When it will only destroy who you really are?
Once you see that you have gone too far?
Paranoia is starting to hit you deep,
Running from gangs while you sleep.
Saying it's all worth the cash,
But really is it worth all that?
Rolling with your boys and going to deals,
Just so you can get through another meal.
Now you're walking round with that gun,
And i'm hearing you say "it's all just for fun!"
This life of yours is going to kill you friend,
Is it all worth it in the end?
You have a wife and two kids on a home on Central Ave.,
If they lose you then what will they have?
I'm trying to find a way to tie it all together, come up with a good ending saying the guy still has a chance and stuff and making it seem less dark...

Ditto.
Any idiot that learned to rhyme in kindergarten can rap.
Nothing more then simple minded music for simple minded people. As is evidenced by its originators

Pretty simple minded statement in itself.
As for the lyrics, he stated that they came to him after hearing Boulevard of Broken Dreams, a Green Day song, which is nowhere near rap. As far as I can tell the lyrics go very well with the music to that song. So not only was your statement simple minded, it was also totally out of place and uncalled for. :aok

Me telling you from a professional musician/producers point of view. The average listener has to be able to relate to the lyrics. But not only think the song is about their life but it also has to have a great melody. Great structure leading in to and falling out of verse/chorus/pre chorus blah blah blah. Song writing isnt a simple process. At least not if you want to make money off of it. Anyone can "write a song" but will it be worth a @#$% is the question. An absolute must in song writing is, it has to have a catchy chorus line that will grab their mouth and make them sing along.
Best of luck with it if you decide to follow through with it. But it is no easy road.
