i know this has been asked for many times, this is, i guess, a "refresher thread"
all in all the Yak-3 is faster (than the T), lighter, and more manuverable than the Yak-9, and many consider it the best dogfighter of WWII. this is because the Yak-3 was designed as an air superiority aircraft, and the Yak-9 was a "general purpose" fighter.

(scroll down halfway on this link, and you'll find about 3 paragraphs+ specs about this plane)

He only added a Plinko plane so as not to be prejudice. Probably an American author thinking of equal rights.
Just saying. :salute
With that said......... I am +1 for more fighter aircraft.

Is "plinko" a simultaneous reference to the Yak-3's Communist origins and its light armament? :P

well if you think about it, it has similar armament to the zeke

A6M has twice the cannons though. The cannons on the A6M2 are crappy, but I've never found the cannons on the A6M5 to be lacking in capability.

true, but getting away from the armament here, this plane (or any other plane, for that matter) is more survivable than the zeke. if i had to choose between two planes that had exceptional dogfighting capabilities, but one had more cannons while the other was more survivable, id choose the survivable plane every time.

The Yak-3 is the superior fighter when compared to the A6M, no doubt.

Generally, I'd say yes. In this case, since the a/c is undoubtedly a fine one and, since people want it so badly, and since it makes sense under the criteria, then I say, NO.
Take your Stalin-era Plinkunist Plinko plane and get Comrade Stalin to fund its development. Maybe he can pillage Eastern Europe or starve millions of Ukrainians to death to fund your little cartoon dream of Red Banner Glory.
The g.d. phones, for god's sake... they didn't even have wall jacks to plug 'em into. Did that stop 'em? No. Just like I say now.
And while you're at it, export your little Yak-3 revolution to some Caribbean Paradise. Next thing you know, it'll be a backwater craphole you can only reach by flying some substandard canuck outfit. No more hookers or gambling. No sir. There's nothing more humorless than some collectivist skumbag flakking for a state-run design bureau.
What about Sakhalin? What about Katyn? Don't wait for the translation, Mr. Ambassador.
Purity of Essence. Peace on Earth.

To be clear on wastin2's stats, the VK-107 engined Yak-3 was a post war development and didn't see combat until Korea.
