Heh, ok... :aok
If you think that the Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Editions cards are extreme, with their six mini DisplayPorts, then think again as PowerColor is working on a Radeon HD 5970 card with 12 (twelve) outputs.
Seen below, PowerColor's uber-Eyefinity HD 5970 model features 12 mini DisplayPorts that can power a maximum of 12 monitors, it takes up three PCI slots so it will have a massive cooler, and packs 4GB of GDDR5 memory. The card's clocks have not been set yet and we may have to wait until early June and Computex to find them out. Still, even at stock HD 5970 frequencies this Hemlock card should be a beast so you may want to start saving up. For both the card and 12 monitors.

Why on earth would someone need 12 displays? For gaming, anything more than 3 displays and the bezels really stick out like a sore thumb.

Keeping up on stock market.. And a gamer with more money than brains.
-
Home Theater PC I guess.
-
Just a bit ungainly but sooner or later someone's going to figure out how to get rid of the bezels:

9 makes more sense. Then you have a clear center view.

What?! LMFAO, "Sweet bezels, is this 1080p?" If an idiot would use 12 monitors for a HT PC, they need to be "put out to the pasture". Front Projector everytime or a 50".
-
Your stuck in that box. :lol'
You dont have to have all the monitors playing different portions I wouldnt think. Playing content from your HTPC to any location in the house that you chose is more important to me than having big displays. If Ati doesnt do that then having more than two ports is just fluff to me.

Nasa, Norad, Petagon, NSA, big brother :noid
-
Isn't that card simply two HD5870 6-mini Display Port cards combined in CrossFire? Either way, looks useful.
-
The fact that a single card is able to power 12 displays is rather cool.
-
That's the reason for my previous questions. It appears to be two 6-mini display port video cards slapped together.
-
I think the 5970 is equal to two 5850's in raw power.

Sorry Paul, HT is a hobby of mine and 12 monitors for the use you suggested, is impractical. Again, the bezels ruin whatever "look", "money spilling", "I am the Joneses", etc angle you can play.

What I was thinking, now to find out if it's less expensive buying two 5870's or one 5970.

I did the math before I brought my new GFX card, the 5850. By looking at various online charts, 5870 costs an extra £10 per FPS over the 5850, I wasn't willing to pay an extra £100 for the 10 extra FPS the 5870 offers, when, for an extra £100 I could get an additional 5850 with a massive boost in performance. I could even buy 3 5850's for the price of two 5870's at the time.
5970 > 5850x2 > 5870x2 if you were to compair price/performance.

I'll look again, but I couldn't find any 6 mini-display port 5850's.
EDIT: Still not finding any 6 mini-display port 5850's.
-
5850 doesn't have a version with 6 display ports.

There is no such thing.

What I figured, that's why I'm not too game for buying one. Here's the only cards I've found with 6 mini-Display Ports:

You seriously need 12 display ports?
-
No.
-
I like this better 180 viewing and you can make your own screen. You just need 3 short throw projectors.http://nthusim.com/setup/nthusim-test-rig (http://nthusim.com/setup/nthusim-test-rig)
Haven't figured out the difference in price but you can get the screen material on EBay for around 100$,and can even get it custom made to size. The projectors are 700 to 800$ need 3.
-
If that material is similar to what I've experienced, rapid movement will either cause headaches or nausea.

Just look at them as your cockpit framing?

I dont believe you understood at all what I was suggesting but Im not surprised either.

I know what you meant and the bezels kill "whatever gain that one would try to get".
